Is this enough if no Giroux

Created by: NMAvsFan

Initial Creation Date: Mar. 2, 2022

Description
Let's assume Sakic doesn't go after Giroux because the price gets too high. Are these moves enough of an improvement to not really be concerned about not getting Giroux?

I dont think it is...the avs didnt really get any better they just min maxed their bottom 6. For 3 separate moves, doesnt seem like thats much of an impact.

Those three players (Vlad, Clutter and Jarnkrok) are generally better defensively than Jost, JTC and Helm and provide more offense. They're small, affordable moves that make the bottom six better than it is now.

Fine I’ll explain then:

Namestikov is probably worth a 3rd or 4th, not sure who’s Clurman is but he likely has zero value

Jarnkrok half retained could probably fetch a 2nd. I like Jost more than most, but a pick is more valuable to the Kraken than Jost, they desperately need more prospects

The isles would move clutterbuck for a late pick, not a similar player with more term. Compher is on the verge of being a cap dump

Agree on Namestnikov but not necessarily the others. I think Seattle would take Jost, as he is still young and will be an RFA after his current deal. With respect to the Isles, I don't think they should accept but could see Lou liking Compher. I could be wrong on that though.

Agree on Namestikov
Probably agree on Jarnkrok but Jost has some real appeal being under team control and being a BC kid.
Compher, sigh. I sometimes feel like Don Quixote talking about him. 26(almost 27yr old) forwards that score 30pts play all 3 forward positions, play special teams, and can play in the top 6 are never on the verge of being cap dumps especially when they only have a year after this remaining. Can you complain he probably makes about $500k, sure but a cap dump is somebody that literally has no value to team and the team trading them is paying someone to take that cap hit. That’s not Compher. When there is an injury in the top 6 he is usually the guy Bednar puts in that spot plug and play. Guy has great wheels, is an agitator, and like any 30pt guy is streaky. But verge of cap dump, no.

Who's Clurman? A tomato can? I think I'd rather re-sign Namestnikov. No point giving him away for basically nothing.

I dont really think they are better players though. Its marginal gains if anything in the grand scheme of thing. Swapping out the bottom 6 for other bottom 6ers isnt really a contender move. You are asking 3 guys to learn a new system and PK in a short amount of time

Moving Jost Compher benching Helm (he sucks I know) but that is a huge strain to the teams system. And who knows if they mesh under bednar etc. Adding 1 sure, 3....thats over kill and can blow up in a teams face asking 25% of your fwd core to change over and learn a new system etc in short amount of time. That is asking for a lot of blow assignments if you have 2 new guys from new teams making up a line

Detroit is all set with RHDs so Clurman doesn't move the needle at all. Plus he was struggling in the AHL and is currently in the ECHL.

they're all ok moves but i dont think the avs should go into the playoffs with jj or murray in their top 6, especially not both

Agree with that; just didn't want to add a D trade in to this one. Kulak?

If you swap Clurman for Helleson then you may have a deal.

lol no. we've had namestnikov before. hes nothing special and definitely not worth helleson. namestnikov tops out as 3rd pick imo.

RD a position that Detroit is strong at, Plus a 5th for Namestnikov for that we just keep him and resign him. No freaking way Yzerman deals him for a bunch of meh.

Interestingly seemed to be a lot of ppl saying Compher for Clutterbuck was fair on other posts. The other two I'd agree though.
