Team: 2021-22 Edmonton Oilers
Description
Team continues to go with 11-7 roster setup.

Arizona Trade:
Arizona has league worse PP, so gaining a PP specialist can help. Honestly, if Arizona takes him for future considerations, then that's a steal for them! They also need a contract to help them hit cap minimum. It also clears capspace for.....

Islanders Trade:
Islanders gain a b prospect in Benson, and an A- prospect in Sam. They also get a passionate 3rd/4th liner (assuming he is healthy). AS WELL AS mid first pick as well as a 3rd (Could be second, I just got stingy). In return, Oilers get goaltending help and defensive 3RD to help fill gaps on roster, both of which are signed for the next year as well!

Koskinen has shown he can operate better if its in a limited backup role, so smith gets sent down to recooperate game at AHL. Turris is buried.

Arizona is looking for picks to take on bad contracts. They aren't going to give up their cap flexibility to improve the PP when they are clearly not contending for a playoff spot.

Personally i think the Isle would take Barrie but thats if they plan on playing offense one day. I do love Varly and Mayfield to EDM, Been pumping the tires on this type of trade. The trade seems destined to happen. But we will see.

Think varlamov to Washington makes a lot more sense. Don’t see him wanting to be the only Russian and unfairly singled out or put his family in that type of situation in a highly profiled market.
