Description
Should the Leafs look to acquire a goalie at this trade deadline? If they do decide to persue a goalie, I feel like Stolarz would be a good fit.

From Anaheim’s perspective they’re getting a 3rd round pick for a guy who’s not going to be in the team’s future plans. With Gibson obviously being the current starter, and Dostal looking like he’s going to be the goalie of the future, Stolarz is going to lose his spot as the backup very soon, especially if they feel Dostal is ready. So this trade would make sense for them, as they move on from a guy that they won’t need in the future.

From the Leafs perspective, this deal gets you a cheap and decent goalie that can help you for this season and the next, so he’s not a pure rental. This would also give them a guaranteed guy for next season, as one of Campbell or Mrazek is most likely traded/signed elsewhere in the summer. The Leafs give up a 3rd rounder, which isn’t the end of the world and gives them a guy that can play if Campbell and Mrazek continue to play poorly. In my opinion, this is a win-win deal for both sides, what do you guys think?

Ducks will definitely want more than a 3rd.

Isn't that third locked until ARI chooses if they take that one or the 2025 2nd though?

I don't think TOR is allowed to trade that third for now.

They wont get anymore than a third if they even get that, regardless I dont think they trade Stolarz until the offseason if they do trade him

They want to give Dotsal the full year in the AHL

Toronto should just acquire a legit starting goalie instead of riding backup goalies hot streaks.

Yeah this is the case, TOR cant move it until ARI decides and they can wait until the draft day if they want I'm pretty sure

Agreed. Trading someone just for the sake of trading them doesn't make sense. Dosty needs a bit of time. No need to throw him up to sit on the bench.
