Canucks Deadline Without Trading Miller

Created by: MingusClark6
Team: 2021-22 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 5, 2022
Published: Mar. 5, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trying to Start a Reetool, refresh the team and gain some picks, but also try to sure up the blueline, and add some younger players to help the team in the future. Trying not to gut the team but still add some picks, as a Canucks fan I don't think were good enough to make the playoffs in the West, or If we sneak in do anything in them.

Pens can’t afford Boeser this year, even with taking back Kappy. And definitely can’t afford his 7.5M QO next season. Kappy’s QO is just 875K. But he has arbitration rights. He will make less than this seasons 3.2M though. I would say 2.25-2.8M.

The only way I see Boeser and his contract(and his 7.5M QO next season) getting trading is to a rebuilding team or the Rangers. Most all contenders can’t afford him unless Vancouver takes back salary. And GM JR wants to shed cap space; not take salary back.

I can see the Rangers trading their 1st round pick and Nils Lundkvist for Boeser. Or maybe V.Kravtov and their 1st. But it seems like no teams/GMs are interested in Kravtov; NYR have been trying to trade him all season.

If Vancouver got NYR’s mid to late 1st round pick(probably mid 1st..lol) and Nils Lundkvist for Boeser that would be a good get. They get all that cap space, plus a RHD prospect that is NHL ready, plus a 1st round pick(16-20 I’d say).

Rangers cant afford boeser long term either and no chance a team is giving boeser his QO

Ya, rumors say they are getting offers for Boeser. I keep thinking from who??

I just saw NYR’s are around 6.5M under the cap right now, with not really anyone they have to resign that would get over what they are getting now. And have a bunch of young players on rookie deals.

I guess, it has to be rebuilding teams with cap space. I can’t see a contender giving up assets to acquire Boeser and not be able to fit him and his 7.5M QO under the cap next season.

Unless teams are sending back salary too. But GM JR is looking to shed cap; not take it on. I’m super interested in what teams have made offers.

Rangers dont have a 2C under contract. So that 6.5 million is needed to sign a 2C, a backup goalie, Kakko, and Blais. With K'andre Miller, Lafreniere and a couple other players due new contracts the year after that. I cant see them using any of that 6.5 million to sign a top 6 winger when they already have Panarin, Kreider, Lafreniere, Kakko, and Chytil on their team on cheap deals.

They can sign him long term to cheaper than 7.5M. But still a long term deal is gonna be in the range of 5-6 years at 6M-7M per anyways. And I would imagine unless it’s 6 years at 6M per(36M total). He doesn’t take 6M. He’ll take his 7,5M QO and cash in as a UFA next season
