Were Not Playoff Ready

Created by: Jded
Team: 2021-22 Anaheim Ducks
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 5, 2022
Published: Mar. 5, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Ducks are still a few years away from seriously competing. Need to make some TDL moves for long-term value, and we’re especially thin on D prospects, so that’s a focus. Not saying they should do all of this and purge the team, though Lindholm, Rakell, Manson, and Des should definitely be signed or traded. The other two moves are voluntary since they have term, but take advantage of what I think are other teams’ playoff needs.

My preference would be to re-sign Lindholm. This assumes that’s the case before the TDL.

If Schneider is likely off the table for JT Miller im not so sure he will be on the table for Adam Henrique

Yeah, Henrique isn't worth either of those pieces IMO.

Thank you. Since before the season started there have been so many Manson trades taking back a 1st. I think he's a very average 3rd line dman, but his physical game makes him stand out to the casual fan. He had a couple of really good years where he was benefiting from playing with a superb d-core.

Got it, didn’t realize how hot NY was on Schneider, just liked what I’d seen of him

I think you also overvalue Henrique. He's still a decent player, but that contract at his age vs. what he brings isn't super desirable.

Got it. If that’s the consensus I’d gladly just resign him. I agree he’s no top 2 dman, but he’s a solid top 4 imo, and a locker room and on-ice leader.

That’s totally possible. I may also just be undervaluing the NY assets because I haven’t watched much of either tbh. I don’t think I overvalue Henrique’s talent at this moment, but the term on his deal and age I completely agree with.

So far it’s a clear no for the Henrique and Manson deals so I’m gonna tweak those to see what the feedback is.

Pens deal is good so far

Haven’t heard from Oilers fans out there which is surprising

Mind elaborating? Pittsburgh gets a rental 2nd line winger, Anaheim gets a young, first round pick dman who’s putting up solid numbers on the cusp of being NHL ready. Could add a conditional pick if they resign him too.

Edmonton gets a goalie they desperately need who has showed promise and upside, and Comtois has been terrible this year and may benefit from a change of scene, though he’s a hard one to sell. Anaheim gets another early first round pick dman with some size that is also playing well in the AHL and is almost NHL ready.

There is no first there, it is just 1 for 1

I think trading Comtois would be a mistake and we don’t need anymore LD prospects. We are set there

I think you misunderstand. I’m not saying a first rounder and defenseman. I’m saying a first round pick defenseman, because Broberg was the 8th overall pick a couple years ago.

Comtois is getting benched right now for the likes of Sam Steel and hasn’t looked himself all year. Max Jones will be back next year to add to the challenge for him to remain in his spot as well. An 8th overall pick who looks good is a solid return IMO.

We do have decent LD talent between Fowler and Lindholm, so maybe a RD target would be preferable, but I definitely wouldn’t say we’re ‘set’ with the likes of Benoit, Guhle, and Mahura stepping in this year at the position

Broberg is not available. Holland rejected Arizona when they asked for Broberg in a potential Chychrun trade, so he absolutely isn't trading him for a backup and a bottom sixer.
