good for him; he seems to have found a home playing alongside Clayton Keller and Nick Schmaltz, and he's had a fantastic season. it's pretty difficult for guys like him that didn't seem like they could stick on a lot of NHL lineups, but he's proven himself this year, and he's earned the opportunity to get the contract that he did.
Look at that ARI up to like 8 players signed for next year now, they’re gaining!! But anyways have to agree with everyone here, good for him to get resigned
Not because he's not worth it, but he's 28, having a career year and Arizona could've got a decent return for him. Instead they, in the beginning of a rebuild, just resigned a 28 YO to a 2 year contract.

Maybe they retain 50% and move him next year and make out even better!

My read is that teams weren't really willing to pony up for one outlier career year and so they decided to extend him cheap instead. If he has another good season next year the return is probably higher than they would have gotten now.
Edit: And considering that they only have 21 contracts signed for next year, there'll probably be no lack of opportunity for him.
Boy, has Travis looked good this year.
I like the contract.
But due to how gms habe turned into idiots, he probably could've gotten 3mil in free agency.
Arizona needs those contracts, and lucky for them a good player agrees to play under 5,000 fans.
