Canes don’t want your cap dump in Hamonic, and we sure as hell won’t be giving up our captain to do so. Unless you are giving us Garland with half retention in that package, as well as a 1st, Canes don’t consider that at all. That might not be Staal’s value to other teams, but it sure as hell is to the Canes. Bear might get traded, and Hoglander could be a really good acquisition, but the Canes are not in a place to trade away rosy defensemen right now, particularly on the right side. Now, if Vancouver can make it more worthwhile for the Canes, they might consider doing that.
