Sign retain trade Boeser

Created by: CEO
Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 6, 2022
Published: Mar. 6, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I'm not saying it's a good idea, just exploring an option. Assumes we sign Boeser to 7.5M x 5 year deal. His QO is 7.5M so personally I think he would not sign that, but that's more than what he's worth so let's stick with that deal.

I understand having like 2. 5M in dead cap for 5 years sounds terrible, but if we get a top 6 or top 4 ELC that improves our team and more prospects, it might be a win-win

Who rejects what trade. This may be as Stupid as half of me is thinking

What a good idea! Sign Boeser and then trade him so we can retain 2.5 million dollars for 5 years! Even better, we get ripped off in a trade!

you guys pass on the only trade that we get fleeced on??? lol.

The returns are either too much back or not close to enough back. Real value is somewhere in the middle. Drop the idea of retaining that much over that long.

its obviously a good deal for NYR they just dont have to line up space or money to have him.

Don’t you guys need a RW? Boeser is a good top 6 RW for only 5 million dollars on this grade. You take this and run

Rangers really only need depth scoring on good deals for next year when we have a cap crunch

in a normal context, sure, but these trades (unrealistically) have 2.5m retention as part of it. You get Brock for well below his going rate.

NHL GMs dont have the cajones or creativity to do a sign and trade. That being said, as long as Panarin, Kreider, Kakko and Lafreniere are on this team, I cant see them trying to acquire another top 6 winger, unless theyre an upgrade one of those 4 and on an affordable contract. And I think they get a 2c before another winger.
