Description

I know that next years draft is supposed to be much better than this years draft but I’m thinking we have a legit chance to win a draft lottery this year and retain our pick. Let’s think about this scenario for a second… we are going to sell off as many assets as we can to recoup draft capital this deadline and that is going to make the team worse (especially if MAF decides to move oh boy!). We could easily get into the top 5-6 range with a bit of tanking and with a little luck we could move into the top 2 and keep our pick. Granted it’s not likely this will happen but let’s say it does for the purpose of this post. What’s the new GM going to think about this situation.

If an RFA is unsigned assume they are non-tendered or traded at the previous deadline.

On a side note, if the Blackhawks did sell hard and absolutely tank our way into last place in the league and then both lottery winner were above the bottom 10 in the league, couldn't we end up giving CBJ a first overall pick?

id rather a top 3 pick next year then wright this year top 3 next year is much better then wright and if w eget wright he prob wont play next year so wed be in the same spot 2023 draft is way more loaded then 2022

The conditions are that the pick is top 2 protected, so unless we are talking about the hawks winning the lottery two consecutive years then the jackets won’t be getting a first overall pick. It’s also extremely unlikely the hawks tank all the way to last place AND two teams ineligible to move to first overall win the lotteries.
