With Klingberg going bye bye, I think Dallas trades for Jeff Petry. Doubt Jim Nill has any interest in Tyler Myers.

The thing to think about there is you'd probably have to give up picks/prospects to get an older, more expensive player with an extra yr of term.

It would be a much different deal that would carry far more risk. Petry obv is the better player but I think that contract is a sneaky landmine considering his age and the price to acquire him.

With just one yr left on his deal I don't know that Miller would be worth the equivalent of 3 1sts. I would put DeBrusk's value at a late 1st maybe 2nd.

I have soured on the idea of trading for Boeser, especially when there are a bunch of interesting wingers available in free agency (Forsberg, Gaudreau, Burakovsky etc.
If that's what it takes to get Boeser out of Vancouver I'd just prefer letting them deal with his 7.5m QO.

Miller is certainly worth a 1st, Debrusk, and a kicker. Lysell is not a kicker. Downgrade taht piece of the trade and i think its fair.

Don't forget Nichushkin from Col
He is likely to resign there but he's almost a ppg player right now 14-17-31 playing 18 mins

Where’s the line of prospect drawn for this trade? No on Lysell and probably Lohrei and open on the rest?

I think the Canucks would probably be more likely to say Lysell and a 1st then. Taking back DeBrusk is equally about taking back money as it is about actually really wanting him. The 3 assets together is maybe a bit too much so I added the 3rd going with Miller. Could retain 50% to push the value even more. Any 2 of those assets discussed doesn't seem like enough for a player of Miller's quality though.

I think you’re on the right track. Might be a couple other guys that the bruins like more than the open market does. That’s the line i would have though.

Why wouldn't he be available for the price though? Bergeron and Marchand probably don't have too many yrs left at the very top. Lysell's productive yrs don't align with theirs and at that point it's gonna take some restocking in Boston. Getting Miller opens the window a crack before it slams shut.

bergeron could hang em up this offseason. lysells window falls right in line with swayman, mcavoy, pastrnak. bruins have no centers no youth at all in the organization outside of lysell and lohrei. its just not gunna happen. if the bruins just draft and hold their prospects they may have a decent chance to rebuild faster than dumping everything to go all in. we dont have a brayden point to save us right now.

While he’s been playing better the last few weeks id still say his value is no higher than a 3rd

He's a 20 goal middle six forward whos 25 yrs old. That is worth at least a 2nd I think. If he's worth a 3rd, Boeser is worth a 2nd.

True thats the decision the club would have to make. I think the Bruins are outside contenders with Miller this and next yr. Without out him I don't think you could expect to win even a round. Possible obv but not probable. You'd have to be pretty high on Lysell though. I've heard he's an incredible skater but his numbers aren't anything special in the WHL.

Would you be open to making a significant add at all this season? If so I think Miller is perfect, if not it's kind of a slow decline in my opinion.

Boeser is having a down year and still gonna finish with better numbers than debrusk’s career highs. The difference between them is huge

Boeser is gonna make 7.5 to DeBrusk's 3.5. Boeser's career high in goals is 29, DeBrusk's is 27. Boesers gets 70% ozone starts, DeBrusk gets 50% and untill recently plays 2nd or 3rd line minuts no PP. 3 of DeBrusk's 25 points are on the PP. 14 of Boeser's 33 points are on the PP.

Don't get me wrong Boeser is a better player, but DeBrusk is still pretty good. A 3rd round pick you are lucky if they make the NHL. DeBrusk is a good middle 6 fwd. His value is a 2nd at least.

Gotta remember Boeser hasn’t played a full season yet he’s either been hurt for parts or the short years the last two and still has never had a worse season than debrusk’s career best year. Depending on what his next deal would look like I could maybe see a team giving up a 2nd for debrusk but Boeser is worth a 1st and a top prospect at minimum. Also Boeser’s qualifying offer is 7.5 but he could sign for less than that if he’s not qualified so it’s not the biggest deal

DeBrusk hasn't played a whole season either. They're both injury prone. My point originally was that DeBrusk is worth a 2nd and you now agree so that's good. Two 1st and a 2nd for one yr of Miller is a lot, that's why I include at 3rd going back.

sure you can make a significant add without giving up lysell and lohrei though. if the price is a young roster player, our best prospect, and a first im not pulling the trigger unless we are getting a young stud center to take over for bergeron. i dont expect bergy to hang em up this year but adding JT miller isnt taking this team over the top. affordability this year is key.

28 yr old, 12th in league scoring, plays center or wing, makes 5.25 this and next season. Ticks about as many boxes as you can reasonably expect for that price.

When you say affordability what do you think you can get without giving up Lysell or your first?

i think you trade for kessel with retention and that solves your 1rw/2rw problem, trade away debrusk and senyshyn and maybe vaak and a pick and try and land a guy with a little term on defense to upgrade over reilly/forbort. haula has been playing at a almost 60 point pace with hall and pastrnak. so while i dont love that player in the 2c spot he has filled in well there. 3rd line is playing well. 4th line is playing well.

imo the defender market isnt great. especially getting anyone with term. but i think you can get a 3 or 4 LD without giving up lysell and lohrei or a first.
