I think Colorado will go for Copp from Winnipeg instead of Giroux. Makes more sense for them long term.

no interest in petry without a sizable amount of retention. hes not a $6m+ player now even tho he is playing much better, let alone the next 3 years.

Just curious what makes you think that? They are both UFA’s, and I would think Giroux could be convinced to take a below market short term deal, where as Copp is going to make as much as possible.

Probably mostly because Friedman talked about it on a recent 32 thoughts podcast. You make a good point tho, but I dont think Giroux takes a below market deal for any teams except Philly.

I was making the Giroux assumption based off him getting a playoff run in and wanting more, but yeah you could be right but I don’t think us fans can understand how powerful the need is to have your name on the cup for some of these high end older guys. Just what I was thinking.

i was thinking the same thing. I assume we let kadri walk and resign giroux to 1 or 2 year deal around 5-6 mil. Him and newhook switch off for 2C next season till newhook can take it completely. having that extra right hand shot would be great because i am not a fan of seeing compher head out as the extra attacker just because he's right handed
