The Hellebuyck trade is not close. Hellebuyck is a top 3 goalie in the league. It is going to cost what ever it takes to get a top 3 player at their position. In the trade Skinner would have to be apart of it and probably a d man like Bouchard. The jets aren't just going to take a bunch of 1st's, it is going to have to be young players.

Doesn’t make sense for Edmonton or Winnipeg.

Yeah if we're lucky Hellebyuck starts with Bourgault, Broberg and Holloway. Not worth it for us.

The only clear bath forward is they rotate names alongside Skinner until he and Konovalov are the 1A/1B. A lot of things have to go right for that though.

I think it makes sense for edmonton but not winnipeg unless they give up. it would be nice to jesper wallstedt in a situation like this though. Could trade him in a deal like this.

So Hellebuyck is a top 5 Goalie in the league, and all he's worth is a pending UFA in Koskinen a cap dump in Turris and middling 1st round pick. Name me one reason why Kevin Chevelldayoff would consider this?

I'm fairly confident konovalov isnt the guy.

3 first round picks is not a nothing offer. The two expiring contracts go back just because they would have to in order to make the deal.

Yeah well picks that're at least 3-4 years away from being NHL ready doesn't help Winnipeg in the near future. Chevelldayoff would never trade his top 5 goalie for this.

His play of late suggests he could be akin to other "sleeper" goalies. You must remember that the transition from the KHL to the standardized rink sizes in North America is hardest for netminders. All of the angles change. The pace changes. You face more shots and traffic than you do dangles.

I'd reserve judgement until after next season when he's had a full season to adjust and have the crease to himself.
