Don't get me wrong, I love Giroux and think he'd be a great add. But I am skeptical that it actually happens; Sakic just doesn't pay those kinds of prices for rentals and Fletcher needs to get a lot in a deal for Giroux. There are lots of other options out there that would help the Avs and he doesn't need Giroux. Not saying it definitely won't happen but I would be shocked if it did.

Oilers can’t afford that. Ellis makes roughly 6.25M on his contract. Barrie makes 4.5M. There is no way we can afford Ellis’ contract. Also, when is he supposed to return? I know he’s out with an injury now, and they just traded for him so I doubt they will trade him. I don’t think Jiricek will play in the NHL next year, so they need him because of that too!

Not so sure about that. JVR at $4 million is a pretty deal and add to that they shed Moore's contract. I'd do that deal in a heartbeat. JVR could play the net front on PP1 and play 3LW unless he's willing to play RW.

Just my opinion... I'd rather keep the 2nd round pick.
