Flyers Panthers Trade

Created by: JPM
Team: 2017-18 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 16, 2017
Published: Apr. 18, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Might take more to pry Huberdeau away, could be worth it especially if we do not lose a D prospect for him. Reimer would be a better option than Neuvy though not much of an upgrade.

As a Flyers fan this is completely unfair. You're offering them Jake for Huberdeau which they say no. Reimer is their future goalie and you can't really trade rights to UFAs. You can trade the player right now to them and they'd have first negotiating rights but that doesn't happen when they can just deal with them July 1st.

I mispoke to say rights to UFA's I guess I meant first chance at, because officially the contracts do not expire until free agency begins, July 1st. Your right this does not happen much anymore, but there is no reason it couldn't happen and with the addition of Vegas, I think their will be a lack of Bottom 6 Forwards, Top 6 D, and Depth players, available compared to usual which might make teams make deals like this. Plus MDZ is potential top 4 D man at his best and younger than most free agents available.

I disagree that Florida thinks that Reimer is truly there future goalie. NHL starting goalies make more than 3.4 million a year for 5 yrs, not to mention they still have Luongo signed to a year longer than Reimer. I see Reimer as a good tandem goalie (1-A) and one of the better backups in the league. The Panthers will ride Luongo and are keeping Reimer as insurance. Overall these two are stop gaps until the Panthers develop a better goalie, albeit very good stopgaps.

As for Huberdeau it's an interesting situation because he only played 31 games this season due to injury, and is set for a big raise in his new contract. Your right that the deal may not be fair and I did say it might take more to pry Huberdeau away. I'm just unsure to how much more that would be, and I think this would be a decent start to the trade talks though. The Panthers may want a goalie prospect which the Flyers have quite a few of at the moment. I don't think the Flyers give up a prospect D-man because Florida already has a pretty solid group of young D-men

I think they are both solid players. Jake is more durable, Huberdeau is younger but so far similar to a young Jake stats wise. Maybe a change of scenery benefits both.

Yeah I think Huberdeau hold a lot more value than Jake and that contract is way better. He's going to be tough to get from them.

I'm not sure if FL is ready to give up on Huberdeau, but they could be looking for a move after missing the playoffs. I would prefer not trading Voracek within the Eastern Conference, seeing as how we aren't that far off from playoff contention (superstitious about old players burning us lol). But not beyond realm of possibility, perhaps JV will want to play with Jagr.
