Description
OK... the team is playing great right now, habs game are fun again!

But this team still need to go trough a rebuild and the good performance will help us sell high!

If we get out of the top 10... we will loose our pick for Carolina's pick... which would be a disaster! Therefore, we need to GUT the team - to make sure that we won't be able to win EVEN if we are playing great.

There is a better chance of Weber returning from injury and leading the Habs to the 2022 Stanley Cup than the Flames accepting that offer.

Flames acquire a 7th D man on their roster for a 1st and the best goalie prospect they have ever had...... I just want to know your reasoning.

Wolf is in the AHL and doesn't effect our cap. You aren't helping with our cap situation at all

You have Markstrom for the next 5 years - and saying that Chariot is a 7D is bad faith, especially when he buried two against the flame last game.

He is a playoff performer that played 30min per game during the playoffs and nuttered Marner and Matthews, Your defense got exposed by the habs' offense.

re-read the trade carefully - I'm taking a cap dump back - so I let you decide which player would be better to trade.

Zona and Calgary decline. Armia is a cap dump so you are going to have to add in a sweetner.

Rangers accept.

Let me be scarred by Tyler Parsons, Round 2 Mason McDonald, Jon Gilles, Joni Ortio, Round 1 LELENAD IRVING!!!, Matt Keetly, Jimmy Spratt, 9th overall Brent Krahn............ All since 2000!! I will care for Wolf as much as Jay Feaster cared about Mark Jankowski.

Carey Price nutered Marner and Matthews. Chiarot and Co. were the fortunate benefactors of a month long run of outstanding goaltending.

Hahahaha...I really thought Mason McDonald was going to be the guy. Loved watching him with the C'town Isles.

Markstrom for 4 years.. no one is expecting Wolf to play for another 2 or 3 and then Markstrom is on the back end of his contract, pretty sweet transitional timeline, no reason to mess with it.

Pick a lane here... was Chiarot the reason they won or were the Flames exposed by Montreal's offense, you're contradicting yourself in your own sentence. At this point who are the Flames sitting for Chiarot? Cause if you're saying it's for offensive production Zadorov and Gudbranson are close enough in Pts/60 that it doesn't make a difference, if it's for his possession metrics, the Flames bottom pair is murdering Chiarot in that department, if it's for his grit/60 in the playoffs, Calgary would be in a serious amount of trouble if they had Chiarot playing 30 minutes a game. Nearly anything important regarding defensive play, the Flames bottom pair is doing significantly better than Chiarot.

If you can outline a strong reason as to why the Flames sit Gudbranson or Zadorov for Chiarot right now then you have some sort of validity to this post, it's just not there though.

Flames decline easily.
Markstrom for the next 5 Years, but Vladar until 2023. So Wolf will move to back up Markstrom in a year and a half and then eventually share time. So why would the Flames trade a top prospect AND a 1st for a guy who will play 3rd pair at most? I wouldn't put Chiarot ahead of Kylington with how he's been playing. Would you move a top prospect and a 1st for a 3rd pair dman? I doubt it.
Find someone else or take a lot less from the Flames

The OP made a stupid trade suggestion, but claiming Chiarot would be our #7 is just as bad.

Chiarot will not even return a 1st, the market is flooded with talent (Klingberg, Giordano, Lindholm and Manson are all considerably better) and if the cost is a 1st for Chiarot, teams will go with someone like Braun for a 2nd instead.

Who is he replacing in the lineup? By the numbers he is easily the 7th in Calgary, it's not really even close.

ARI doesn't save money in that deal, they take on 10 million dollars (over 3 years). MTL has to add if they want them to do that.

Comparing numbers between a player on a team that is a tire fire and ones on a good team is always a fools errand. Chiarot is considerably better than either Zadorov or Gudbranson, anyone with any semblance of intelligent thought would know that.

I don't understand the assertion that Arizona is getting "rid of some UFA salaries (they save a bit of money)." They're only transferring one player, so the plural is mystifying, and his contract expires this summer, so they're not really getting rid of anything at all with that trade. Plus, they're taking on a $3.4-million third-liner for three seasons.

I mean that's the point of a lot of the stats that are developing, isolating a player and determining value to other players in different scenarios and circumstances. If you don't understand it that's okay I would just recommend talking about other things that you know about as opposed to resorting to name calling cause of your frustration. Zadorov is outplaying him by a mile, Gudbranson a little less but bringing Chiarot in to play Zadorov or Gudbransons's 16 minutes a night would be ridiculous and make literally zero marginal difference. Chiarot would be the 7th D man on the Flames right now, find something that says different.
