Description
I know its highly unlikley but just a thought with jack mcbain not wanting to sign with wild and explore other options what if there was a package like this
wilds goaltending hasnt been great recently they have dropped 8 of last 10 allowing 5 goals or more in 5 of the 10

this is just a thought if a fit like this would work
Trades
CHI
  1. McBain, Jack [Reserve List]
  2. Novak, Pavel [Reserve List]
  3. 2022 1st round pick (MIN)
  4. 2022 3rd round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
the asking price for hagel is a first and a top propsect didnt wanna put rossi cause wild fans would come for my throat so i added novak and mccbain this allows the wild to trade fiala cause the cant afford him after this season it looks like and replace him with hagel on the second line

the trade broken down is fleury for mccbain and a third and hagel for novak and a first
MIN
  1. Fleury, Marc-André
  2. Hagel, Brandon
Additional Details:
50% retained maybe 3rd suitor to also retain another 50% on fleury

The risk of mcbain choosing FA anyway is too great for us to trade BOTH of our most attractive trade chips for

they've given him permission to help facilitate a trade to teams hes wanting to play for so wild will trade him and he signs right away type thing his agent is calling teams hes interested in and they giving wild the list and theyll trade him to a team hell sign for

Easy no from wild. We aren't parting with a 1st or adding for rental. We don't have any nerd for a Winger . Any trade for a Winger gets turned down. Minnesota is the last team to send Winger too

Minnesota easily declines, as does Fleury.

I have heard this too, which doesn't make sense to me. In theroy isn't this year going to be the Wild's best shot at coming out of the west? The buyout dead cap hits are brutal the next two years and the wild are bound to lose people, I don't see how this roster improves the next two seasons aside from the rookies coming in and being better than the guys they are replacing. I agree this trade isn't a good fit for the wild (and is bad for the hawks too), but I would think the wild would be all over trying to land giroux, or even Flower on his own if he decides he does want a trade

The Wild will have plenty of life AFTER the dead cap, if they don't try to pretend like this is the only year in the foreseeable future they could make a Cup run.

Besides, the idea that this is even a good year for them to make a run is shaky at best, given their goaltending and defense.

Not really. This is how fans think. Our gm was a legend hockey player. A team owner who gave him permission and power in the world to make the team his. So not really, he's right to care about long term and not short

If you have a sub to The Athletic, give this article a read. I think Guerin is playing the long game and probably doesn't view us as ready to go all-in for a cup (which I agree with). Our center depth is pretty abysmal with Hartman falling back to earth, our blue line has dealt with injuries all season and Goligoski is looking his age, and we've gotten very average, if not below average, goaltending. I just don't see how a Giroux or Flower magically puts us into cup contention. We need a #1 C and a good goaltender. The hope is that we have those already with Rossi and Wallstedt, but right now those two just aren't ready for the show.

If I had to guess, his plan is to contend in 3 years when the buyout money is only around $1M, Rossi, Wallstedt, and Lambos should be ready, Boldy will be entering his prime, and Kaprizov is still in his prime years. Zucc will be off the books by then as well.

Definitely makes sense. Thanks for the insight here

What needs to be added to McBain to get Strome? I just don’t see a goalie going to MIN since I doubt they send Talbot back or Kaapo to IA.
