AVs don't have a first rounder this year. Canucks don't do the deal without Barron

so next year then. avs will need roster players soon so can't trade all the prospects. avs might need a cheap rd like schenn to fill the hole.

Still keep their top two prospects :Byram & Newhook. Can take Jost out, but no salary retention and AVs add a mid round pick

They will also need to resign MacKinnon and Kadri. Their cup window is really the next two years. They may get another run in the future, but this is likely their best shot. They can hold on to their prospects or they can go for it. Miller will help this team

Let’s stop Pretending already, this isn’t getting 2 of the avs top prospects. He’s not an elite player.

LOl Recognize the Miller has outscored all of these players over the last 3 seasons: Barkov, M. Tkachuk, Tavares, Crosby, Stamkos, Guentzel, Stone, A. Svechnikov, Point, O'Reilly.

He has one more year on a very good contract.

He’s not out scoring anyone once you remove him from the top pp and getting top line minutes

He would be playing 2nd line, and 2nd pp unit time, that’s the reality of the player, just bc he’s the Canucks beat player doesn’t mean he a taking anyones ice time in Colorado in the top line or top pp unit

And that poor defensive game, he’s not being leaned, he will be situational offensive starts late in games

Except Byram and Newhook aren’t prospects they are NHL players. COL isn’t overpaying for a guy that at best ends up being their 5th best forward. He doesn’t play on PP1 in COL, or the top line. He is in COL what he was in NY and TB a 2nd line guy. Sakic isn’t going to over pay for that, if that means no Miller then so be it.

MacKinnon, Rantanen, Landeskog and Kadri. He isn’t moving a single one of those out of their spots. Tell me I’m wrong.

And when you consider makar and toews. He’s like the 7th best player on the avs, he’s not elite, never was

Replace Olausson with your 23' first and we can throw in Schenn, might require a touch more like a 3rd or 4th from avs too maybe

Avs alrady have elite scoring, Miller isn’t the prize pig that Canuck fans treat him as. He’s not worth these prize tags associate with him, he’s simply just not that top end of a player

It's a combination of things. His advanced metrics for defensive play aren't great. He is however 12th in league scoring last I checked. Literally far and away the MVP of the Canucks this season yet if you looked at Jfresh for other players it might suggest players like Garland have been better which is just ludicrous to anyone who follows the team closely. On top of that Miller plays wing and center, great on the draw, physical, leader. He's a playoff type player. And he's on a sweetheart of a deal. Put him in Landeskog's position and you might see his metrics go through the roof.

That said he probably isn't the player for Colorado because one of his key attributes is his special teams play. He is most certainly is an elite scorer and the best player on the Canucks over the last 3 yrs.

No he’s not though. He’s been the top scorer on a fringe playoff team. MacDavid, Draisitl, Matthews, Marner, MacKinnon, Rantanen, Pasternak, Marchand, Kane, Kucherov, those guys are elite scorers. Elite is the best of the best, he isn’t that. He’s a career .68 ppg player that has racked up some nice stats given heavy ice time. I’m not trying to diminish him, and I apologize if that’s how it seems, but for example on the Avs right now he would be the 4th leading scoring and that’s because MacKinnon and Landeskog have played fewer games.

Another interesting one is Jason Dickinson. Last season apparently his advanced defensive metrics suggested he was one of the top 10 defensive fwds in the league. He has been absolutely awful. So bad he can't even be trusted at the center position this yr.

On a side note: Do you know how Jfresh works in terms of 1st line vs 2nd line? is just just prorated /60? because there could be room for outliers just from that alone.

They really don’t. They have to make choices this coming off season already, and they need young cheap talent to plug in not spend on a guy that doesn’t play on their top line or top PP unit.

I think so too but my question is more how they weigh WAR comparatively when one guy plays 20 mins a night and another plays 14. Is it /60 prorated? I think it must be because Garland is higher WAR than Miller which I don't think anyone could say who watches every night. However if you prorate a players minimal minutes my point would be that it doesn't mean they'd simply do better if they played more so when you consider contributing to wins Miller is scoring every game. Garland is a bit part player almost but his WAR% is better. I'm not sure the rating system is accurate.
