Hertl will command 7 x $8,000,000 and the Wild are in cap crunch. And Guerin isn't trading jesper Wallstedt for a player he has zero chance of signing in Tomas Hertl.

MIN's window probably snaps shut for a couple seasons after this year due to their dead cap, so if he feels this is MIN's best year I can see him going all in and capitalizing on this year's momentum.

A: TB has ZERO cap space.
B: who on the left side is he replacing?
Hedman Bhahahaha
McDonagh Bhahahaha
Sergachev bhahahaha.
TB's right side is better than most think.

Something that is a fantasy. Our gm will not trade a 1st for rentals,,much less ever trading wallstedt. That will never happen . So it's an absolute no for Minnesota. He doesn't have any appetite for rentals and he already told the team as such

He's very good depth; tough and big in the way TB likes their Dmen, and he's an RFA. Also, TB shows no fear in trading their 1sts for tough depth, and it's worked out twice.
LeBrun has reported interest from TB, so I basically put together the Goodrow trade.

None the less, I wouldn't move Wallstedt for Hertl 1v1.

I say this as both a Wild fan and as a Sharks fan who loves Hertl. Hertl is NOT getting the best goalie prospect in the world back in a trade when he would strictly be a rental for us.

Even if for a second we entertained the idea of going all in this year, the youth and team we're going to likely have after the deadcap crunch goes away in 3.5 years has every chance of potentially being a dynasty. Trading a likely franchise goalie for 2 months of Hertl is downright insane, and frankly, stupidity at its finest.

Yeah but they had cap space they don't have now . Literally dollar in dollar out according to JBB at his mid-season presser, and according to cap friendly they have like 712 bucks. JBB also hasn't traded off the active roster at the TDL. Which unless someone is on LTIR they'd have to do.

Respect your position and your input.

TBH, I made this AGM for me. Three of my favorite current Sharks are in rumors, so I came here to entertain those possibilities the way I want. I do not want Hertl to be traded, and I do not think he will be traded, but if he is the only package I want is from MIN.

They have a couple waiver-exempt players who could kill time in the AHL before the post-season starts. Middz only makes $725k

Minnesota's main issue has been goaltending, and for a while too. Giving up a potentially elite, franchise goalie for rental is extremely short sighted and stupid. Easy decline on Minnesota's end, even if the "value" may be okay
