We do?

Tavares is one of the best centers in the NHL why would we trade him lul.

People complain but hey 54 points in 56 games. 3rd in FOW%. And a natural leader

Even for the cap space we wouldn't do that. After all not many capable guys to replace him in this league.

As the 32nd OA pick, Pearson and Woo yeah pass lul.

The decline has begun but he's still productive. Leafs management had to expect this and they are not going to trade him until his last year, if at all

Kinda strange if you scenario is true, why do the Canucks do the trade? Although Tavares cap is too high, his play has been fine. Yea, I'm sure JT waives his NMC.

In general Tavares is still a very good center

54 points in 56 games.

He is 3rd in FOW% important for key draws

Like not many guys can replace what he brings. Sure you can bring someone younger but his faceoff wins have bailed us out a bunch

Sure Cap space is nice but Center depth is also important. As how many teams can say they have top 6 center depth like us lul

He's declining but still almost a point a game, drives play and is a tireless worker. Totally declining.

Imagine if they find the right LW for him and Nylander. He'd decline his way to over a point a game and 30 goals.

So far Robertson has sparked something in that duo. Tavares scored a goal and Nylander/Robertson got some chemistry almost converting twice with Robertson getting a goal to. Want to see more before the TDL as maybe Robertson is the guy they needed this whole time

Tavares is not a fast player. But those who know the game and not the stat sheet know how much he does right. Something I will never forget is my coaches telling me to always keep my stick on the ice. Wanna know why JT gets so many goals/points via tip in? Watch his stick.

Oh and of course the defensive play, the face off %, the leadership. 11 million is hard to swallow yup. But I don’t regret the leafs signing him at all.

He's going to be 32 and he's slowing down. I said he's still productive but the decline is beginning. Idk what is wrong with what I said

He's going to finish nearly a point a game. What's declining? His production isn't. His faceoff work isn't. His defensive play is the same. What's declining? Definitely not the Islanders fan bitterness towards him.

Nothing is wrong with that. What's wrong is that he'll be 35 getting paid $11M in a few years.. I wouldn't want him to decline either if he was on my team getting paid that much

You Islanders fans are so hurt still eh? Just imagining whatever you need to to fill the hole left in your hearts.

He's still a good player but he's aging and getting slower. I'm not mad, but these are just facts. It happens to every player

You could say that if he wasn't playing at near a point a game pace.
