As a nuckks fan we would not really have any interest in another middle six player we are well stocked. We are looking for a young Stud RD to play with Hughes. No fit here. IMHO

The van trade is not good. Zem is literally the perfect 4th line guy. No reason to trade for an overpiad RD.

I don't hate targeting Larsson but I don't if I make that trade either. Seems like bad asset management

We're looking to get Myers off the books, what comes back just can't be an anchor. Canucks would do this in a heartbeat, even despite Myers improved play.

I think you can do one or the other but I don't think you need to target both guys. I'd push for Larsson in that case - he'd be a very strong guy to pair with Power as he develops his NHL game.

Thing about "the perfect 4th line player" is they are very easy to obtain.

So trading for Another fourth liner with a bad contract (for a fourth liner), hmmmm sounds familiar.Thats sounds like a Benning move. Side ways at best. Some canucks fans are balking at paying Motte 2million a season i would much rather keep motte and pay him 2 million a year.Myers is currently playing well.He needs to go for sure in the summer but not for another 4th liner.IMHO

The reason we can't afford players like Motte is because of contracts like Myers. Its the same reason we couldn't afford Toffoli or even Tanev. The trade has nothing to do with the return, though getting back a serviceable play would be a bonus, the reason you do it is because it is an expiring contract.

Benning actually made some decent "sideways" moves as you call them for useful players in the bottom 6, despite all the other mistakes he made. As an example we picked up Lammikko for nothing, Motte for nothing, Highmore. We gave up small pieces and won all those trades. The point is teams trade these types of guys all the time. Not to mention theyre UFAs often too. I love Motte as a player but at 2 mil i don't think he's worth it unless we can move a big chunk of our dead money out ie Myers.

I prefer the Larsson move to the trade for Myers, if I had to pick one.

But if Mitts is your 4C, you're better off trading him. He's not a grinder, not an energy guy, less than excellent on defense. Needs to work with finishers. Send him to a team that sees him for what he is: a 2/3C that will thrive on a team with solid middle six wingers.
