They also don’t have Laine and Roslovic if you trade PLD to Toronto.

      You wouldn’t have Boqvist too.

So to recap, if this trade happens, we add Marner, dermott, and Liljegren, but lose out on Sillinger, Bean, Boqvist, Johnson, Laine and Roslovic.

Yah I think I would rather have the young players you have over the ones from Toronto. Marner is good, but Sillinger, Bean, Boqvist, Johnson, Laine, and Roslovic can cover way more spots at a cheaper price, and they are in positions of need.

Jarmo is a thief. Probably would have snagged himself an extra 2 or 3 1st round picks and a soda machine in this deal as well tears of joy

This isn't a comment on Marner's value/ worth, but I'm just generally leary when it comes to taking on someone with *that* high of a cap hit. It's different when it's home-grown, or someone who has been on the team for a few seasons, but to just take it on a in a trade feels dangerous to me.

Never know how a guy like Marner is going to react to going from Tavares/ Matthews as his center to...Boone Jenner. It'd be different if CBJ were a contending team, but they knew which direction the winds were blowing when PLD was traded.

So all told, absolutely, the CHI trade beats the spit outta this one re: Jones, and I'm generally happy with the PLD trade.

Aside from the Dzingel trade, Jarmo tends to do very well with trades. Marner is a great player and I think he would do just fine with the Jackets. Trust me if the Jackets somehow did land Marner he wouldn’t play with Jenner as his center. But Marner isn’t going to happen so this is a moot point.
