Quite possible. God knows they need some help in the net. That said the Oilers don't have 2nd/3rd this year as they're tied up in the Keith deal, and they're the ones who need help the most. They could still offer the 4th or next year's of course. The big question for the Leafs is how long is Campbell down for? They'd have to offer a second or go to '23 as well as they've nothing from round 3 downwards available.

I can see why the Avs would want Jeannot - and it's why Nashville likes him so much. And he's still trending upwards. Preds decline offer.

Jost isn't a good fit for the Devils.
They are trying to move middle six forwards out, not trading for them.
Not that Devils are currently looking to move McLeod to begin with.

Exactly my thinking too. I had a short discussion with another Preds fan and he considered a 2nd plus prospect was fair value so I went for a little overpay with the division rival thing and all. I think the value is good but like you I would still expect the Preds to decline as he's a guy any team should want to hold onto.

Fair comment. I kind of went with the idea of two guys, same draft, two positions apart, same age, Pretty much identical basic stats (haven't seen advanced for them). Both basically seem to have hit a plateau. Maybe the change of scenery would help both. McLeod is more pure bottom to middle six face off man at this point. Jost is utility across all three bottom to middle six forward positions. Both RFA in two years. Both can play up the line up if necessary. The third for the salary difference, but I'd accept it might not be enough to tempt the Devils.

If you’re just going by what McLeods page on capfriendly (salary, draft position, points etc), this would be a reasonable take on him. Superficially it is a very similar profile to Jost.

Unfortunately, it renders a grave misunderstanding of who McLeod is and what his strengths, weaknesses and limitations are.
McLeod is currently more or less at his offensive ceiling, what he is now is what you’re gonna get from him over the next 7-8 years.

He should develop into a premier shutdown 4C along the lines of Zach Aston-Reese, with better skating perhaps.
But you cannot play McLeod higher in the lineup, he's a 4C, nothing more, nothing less nad that's totally fine.
This is why Devils are so unlikely to trade McLeod, he’s of a completely unique profile within the organization. Again, this is also why there is no clear reason for Devils to trade for Jost.

Sens will need a special offer to move Forsberg because of the stability that he has given the Sens in net and has secretly been one of the best goalies in the NHL this year. So you're offer won't fly, TBH, they'll probably want to resign him to with Murray's short but eventfull history with the Sens. Me not being a preds fan but knowing Jeannot and the player I think that the talking point will be a first and a top prospect like Barron, Beherens, or someone else as he is such a key part of the team and fits their identity so well plus is very young, it is also to a divison rival so it makes sense that the price will be steep.

As I previously said, fair comment. However, those elements I based the trade on are some, and I only say some, of the elements involved in a hockey trade. I'd be very interested to see advanced stats for McLeod vs Jost as the two are pretty much identical on the surface. Nothing to do with cap friendly's page, though I would agree superficial. If your premise is that he's purely a shut down #4C then Jost probably still has a potentially higher offensive ceiling, not masive but higher, plus the third round pick so that kind of negates the argument. Guys who are going to be career 4th liners (and to my mind McLeod should be considered higher) if offered a similar player plus a 3rd for it would be a no brainer. Your argument may be valid but your premise is off imo.

As I said in a previous comment I went off the value proposed to me by a NAS fan for the Jeannot trade and added for the rivalry. He certainly wouldn't fetch Barron. Behrens/Helleson could probably be considered. I also doubt NAS would make the trade for the reasons you state about identity etc. I could easily see the Sens wanting to re-sign Forsberg but if they don't it will be a question of who bids what and there is a good chance the Avs get outbid I will give you that.

Like I said in another ACGM :

Forsberg has been a top-10 goalie this year. 3rd highest SV% (0.930) since December, just behind Shesterkin and Swayman. Well, it was before last night
