The Vegas 1st rd pick is already top 10 protected, doubt the Sabres part with it in this trade.

Didn't realize it was top 10 protected guess the Knights and Oilers have to reverse roles

Sabres fans have created ACGM's of Savard for a 2nd + 7th without retention or anything else added over the last several days. Adding Tuch to that should be enough to bump that return to a lone Mid to late 1st.

I'd say use the Fla 1st then

Would do Savard & Tuch for the Buffalo 2nd and a 6th. I think.

Can Savard keep it together for 3 more seasons, to partner with Power? And is he a guy the Sabres want with Power.

Even if he is, he is a probably buyout in his last season.

But I'd do the trade for the 40th overall. Not for a 1st. Savard just isn't a sure thing as a low-end #2 RHD.

Why would we add Tuch to the deal just to bump the 7th to a 6th? That is ridiculous, it would be the Vegas pick or Tuch stays in Montreal cause it's not worth it otherwise.

I always liked Savard as a player. I'm not trying to beat the guy up.

Would you sign Savard as a free agent at 3x3.5? Cuz thats what he is getting already after this year. 3x3 sounds about right. So right now he is overpaid as it is.

But he is signed. I think Montreal should be very pleased with

Buf 2nd (around 40th overall)
Buf 6th

Savard
Tuch

That's a good trade for Montreal. You should do it. I really don't think you are finding a better pick than 40th overall for Savard.

Fair enough, if you can get better than 40th overall from another team you should do it.

No I meant roles in this ACGM lol. I need to get to the 6th pick so I can trade it and the Flames pick to get to 5th and take Nemec lol.

If I was Adams I'd look at a 2RHD that can offer some offense to the team, after Dahlin not much coming from the rest of the blueline.
For 3RHD I go for some edge, I'd overpay Gudbranson to sign here...he will be a UFA and Calgary still has to give out new contracts to Tkachuk, Goudreau and Mangipane so if Gudbranson wants to pad his bank account the Sabres can afford to over pay him if he is willing to come here.

There has already been numerous Buffalo ACGM's giving the Sabre's 2nd (40th) + a 7th for just Savard. Adding Tuch (last years 2nd round pick) to that increases that package significantly. We wouldn't do it for a 28-32 pick (Fla) or to simply bump the 7th to a 6th. It would have to be the Vegas pick.

LOL, I wouldn't either, IF it was just for Allen but the deal includes Chiarot and both are half retained. I originally had separate trades but combined them for ease lol. Basically it is Allen (retained) for Koskinen + 2nd and Chiarot (half retained) for 1st (not protected) + 3rdand I know Oil fans don't like that but it is what it is.

Oh my bad it was the Vegas 2nd (48th) but even still adding Tuch is worth more than just moving 8-16 spots and since the pick is already top 10 protected we can't move up in this year's draft anyway and next year with a full year of Eichel and company Vegas should be better solidified in the playoffs.

I think we're close, I really do.

I'd like to think that your management will want the *highest possible pick* for Savard. There's a trade here, there's a possible fit. Savard has low 2nd round value to me, maybe high 3rd round value. You probably have him valued higher than that.

That's why I think you add Tuch. And Tuch's value is not 47th overall like where he was drafted. It's probably a full round lower than that now. I'm not saying he isn't a good prospect, but he isn't 2nd round value.

If I thought Tuch was worth 40th overall, obviously there's no reason to do a couple of adds. But I just don't.

I know you're in a rebuild, but do you really think Savard is worth 40th overall? He's a borderline 2nd pair right now, and he is diminishing returns.

I don't even think Buffalo does the trade I proposed, unless our analytics nerds think it's a good trade. And I suspect that Savard isn't the droid they are looking for.

TBH, I think Savard right now has 2nd round value in the 50-60 range, Tuch also has low 2nd round value maybe 55-64 range or early 3rd. So thinking about it now your right, Montreal probably has to add something to make it work. May change the deal to Savard + Tuch + 2022 1st (Cal) for 2022 1st (VGK) + 2022 2nd (Buf). Does that look better?

Koskinen is 9-1-2 in his last 12 starts. The team is also playing a lot better since the coaching change. I don't see management moving him unless it's a clear upgrade (MAF, Varly).
As for Chiarot, someone will overpay for him, i hope it's not us.

Yup Jack is doing for Vegas what he did for Buffalo.
Since he joined the line up the Knights are 4-8-1 projected over 82 games is 57 points.
I know the Knights could turn it around.
Ideally, Vegas misses the playoffs and gets the 11th OA pick in the lottery.

Koskinen > Allen. Why would Edmonton add a 2nd to get an inferior goalie??
1st + 3rd > Chiarot. This one's a no-brainer.

Oh-for-two.

Not happening.

I see a lot of fans on here taking that stance but honestly Chiarot is not as bad as everyone on here thinks. Many say he is slow but he had the game winner in OT where he out skated 2 defenders to create a 2 on 1. Then there are people who say he can't pass to save his life but he makes decent passes all the time and in fact just last night he almost sprung Suzuki on a breakaway in OT while on the PK. He just hit the defenceman's skate with his backhand pass. Also for an example of not only his passing but also his creativity check out the GTG from last night. He is literally facing away from Pitlick spins in the corner to create space, as he is spinning he looks to the net and places a perfect pass right onto the tape of Pitlick for a tap in. Chiarot gets a lot of flack cause he is not the flashiest player but he is a highly skilled player, playing a defense first role. He wins 1 on 1 battles, makes zone entries difficult, and clears the front of net. Sure he cross-checks and punches guys in the head and plays physical but that is hockey, show me one D man who doesn't cross-check opponents in front of the net or a physical player who doesn't punch guys in the head any chance they get, see Marchand, Gallagher and Hyman for examples. All players do these things. The difference is that Chiarot isn't as flashy as some of those other guys. It's always nice to watch a Nurse skate up ice and score a beautiful goal but 9 times out of 10 that goal is scored because of a battle won along the boards or a stick in the lane that deflects a pass in the defensive end. Chiarot wins a lot of those battles that create those opportunities. Check out what a rival league executive said “They’re asking for a first-round pick and a good prospect,” said one league executive who works for a team very interested in Chiarot’s services.

“I don’t know if we can do that, and I think it’s a bit high, but I’d ask for it too. You can say there’s a lot of D-men on the market, but there are none like him. A guy his size who moves really well. A guy who can play 26 minutes in a playoff game. And he just does everything.”

See the story below for a good understanding of why Habs fans view Chiarot as more than just "pylon" as many trolls like to call him.

I'm not saying Chiarot is a bad player in any way. I've seen some of those plays you mention above and agree that he's playing really good. There's definitely some good chemistry going on in Montreal right now.
And that's why someone will give you guys a 1st for him. I still hope it's not us. I don't see him being "the missing piece" to something great happening. I could be wrong though. But history says that almost all high priced rentals aren't worth it.

No you are right the Oilers aren't going to be contenders just because the get Chiarot, He would be a nice piece to add to their top 4 but it doesn't do anything to solidifying the goaltending or balancing the bottom 6.
