Agreed that canucks would not take that.. but let's be clear..the canucks did not trade a 1st and 2nd for Garland.. there was a lot of moving pieces in that trade..

Frank Seravelli said that Scheifle might be on the way out. And Garland has been tied to Boston for a long time.

The Jets aren't going to trade Scheifele for a cap dump an unneeded bottom 6 winger, an unneeded winger prospect, although a nice piece and 1st. There would be at least one piece that Winnipeg needs coming back in addition to the first.

The Jets won't trade Scheifele where the main piece coming back is a winger prospect.

Jets could use a RW prospect, really they could use any good prospect other then LHD.

I mean it in the context of trading Scheifele, as wingers being unneeded. They can be part of the package, but would be secondary pieces to a more valuable, needed piece like a top 6 C or top pair RHD.

I don't see a any winger that the Jets would want as the main piece.

Lysell doesn't look too bad and is a RW which the Jets have few if any of. I assume they'll be playing some wingers on their offhands so perhaps the handedness doesn't matter much.

I'm just not sure who's trading a top 6 C or top pair RHD for #55.

Also don't they need a top 6 winger? I thought they needed one in the offseason as much or more then they needed help on defense, other then Ehlers and Connor I don't see who's a true top 6 winger on this team.

Yeah the Jets could use another top 6 winger, just not at the expense of Scheifele.

There likely isn't anyone available right now that would fit for the Jets, but you never know in the off season. There are always unexpected players that become available for one reason or another.

But, that's also why I think that unless Scheifele asks for a trade, he won't be moved. It's just too hard to find comparable value for a 1C on a great contract.

I wonder if Scheifele has already asked for a trade, something seems up with him.

It's really hard to say. The team has been so consistently inconsistent this year, no one outside of maybe Connor has looked good, so it just may be a sign of playing with no structure or direction.

I hope he hasn't asked for a trade, because then the Jets really will be looking at the lowball returns we see on this board.

Or, he could just be upset that Maurice walked away.

Why not? Maybe replace Moore with a pick, but Debrusk is a top 9, change of scenery type player who scored 25 goals a few years ago, Lysell is another first round pick who would look insane next to Ehlers; the guy can skate, stickhandles, and has a decent looking shot. He reminds me a lot like Nik.

And there's a first round pick there.

Taking Moore out for a pick is the only change I'd do. Scheif is a 90 point guy at his peak and with his mind into it, but let's not try to win the lottery here; this year has exposed some troubling issues with his game.

I suspect it's the coach. Maurice allowed him to get away with a lot of ****, and his top line spot has never been threatened since he pumped Little out of that spot years ago. Now he has Lowry who makes you earn your spot.

Scheifele has never shown any interest in defensive play, and that's been amplified because this team should be better than they are and people aren't blinded by team success; which makes people think everything is awesome. When a team doesn't play to their potential you see what players don't do well enough.
