Trade deadline

Created by: Jah1722
Team: 2021-22 Anaheim Ducks
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 13, 2022
Published: Mar. 13, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Used Lebrun’s latest article as reference for possible landing spots. Rakell wasn’t mentioned and PIT may not be the best suitor but he’ll get moved and hoped it’s for a 1st this year.

Also this is what I think Comtois’ rumored availability is. He’s been offered in a Chychrun deal. I doubt he’s available for anything less than being the young NHLer in a year for a top player.

I feel like there will be a team that would be willing to trade a 1st for Rakell. He’s still a sniper that plenty of teams would be wanting

I would do this Canes deal, but the Canes way of doing things is to not give up controlled assets for rentals…the only time they did was when Dougie was hurt before the COVID pause. I continue to think the Canes & Ducks are perfect trade partners, but just don’t think this level of a rental is where the Canes go.

Last season, Fleury for Hakanpaa. Same type of deal, UFA for RFA. Lebrun says CAR is interested but price and cap hit might be too high. Bear seems expendable especially when ADA returns.

Yeah, as mentioned, I don’t think this is the level of rental canes can entertain. Seems like we are heading down the path of flipping a 5th or 6th rounder 5 mins before the deadline for a depth guy like Braun or something.

Fleury was done in Carolina, not the same situation.

Bear could very well be done too. He averages the least TOI of the regular 6 D. Has been scratched. May not be at the TDL as he’s could be kept for playoff depth but they might look to deal him in the offseason.

Also Braun is gonna get more than late picks.

I like it. had the same pov with Manson to Carolina. But something about recent interviews with Verbeek and his want for big defensemen makes me think Bear or a forward like Tippet won't be someone he will be targeting. We shall see tho.

Currently, he's on the top pair. Bear doesn't play PK, and the Canes have a lot of PK time. He's been injured too. He usually plays 3rd pair because TDA slots onto the top pair. Not because he's been poor. He's actually been really good in the absence of DeAngelo

They need RW so I don’t think the D comment affects that much. Yes Bear is only 5’11” but he’s ~200lbs. Solid size. He wants guys that can move bodies as well as skate. I also think Bear is better than he’s shown this year.

There was a stretch I saw CAR was going Cole and Smith on the 3rd pair. I think Bear is a solid D man but looking from the outside it seems like he might not just fit that well and some of that has to do with the way ADA has played. I could be wrong but wouldn’t be surprised if he was available at some point either this TDL or in the off season.

When he was out with the ankle injury? You wouldn't see him in the lineup.

Being scratched for 6 of 9 games doesn’t scream injury but rather coaches decision.

Yeah, where Brind'amour said he was still dealing with an ankle injury he suffered against Calgary? That's injury.

Okay he was “injured” yet of the 6 regulars he still plays the least amount.

Okay? All the others either play PK or PP time. Bear usually plays 3RD... but that's because there's a PPG D man and a Brett Pesce who's incredible in his own right ahead of him. It's a sign of Carolina's depth, not a slight at the player.
