I suggested this a few days ago but with a pick swap of the hawks receiving a 2nd and sending a 3rd. I think Kubalik is worth more right now

I didn’t see your post but I thought of the exact same trade. but I was hesitant adding the picks with the thought of ducks fans jumping me for it

yeah they kinda did haha. Just off memory Kubalik is only one year older and both are having down years but Comtois literally has 8 points. I don't see how it would be 1 for 1

Kubalik is almost 4 years older. Ducks aren’t doing this.

I can see why ANA would say no to this but there could be a discussion on this with some negotiation involved.

I personally see no negotiation. I don't know why the Ducks are in on Kubalik right now, but in no way do I see it as a good swap to move 23 year old Comtois for Kubalik.

Take CHI out of it, What would you say is Comtois trade value? Then what would you say his intrinsic value is to the ducks?

I’d honestly say we shouldn’t be trading him, because his value is really low right now. If a team offered the value of a second I’d lean no, a first yes, but if I’m any other NHL team I wouldn’t give up a first for him right now. So I think he’s worth more than his market value. I’d keep him and hope that as a 23 year old he’s just having a rough go this year and will bounce back

Thats exactly how we feel about Kubalik. I think thats why the suggestion was made.

That makes total sense. I think what's hard to rationalize is making the move considering the age difference. As much as I can't be impartial as a lifelong Ducks fan, if I'm trying to be, it's hard to see why you'd move the 23 year old having a rough year for the 26 year old, especially if you're a few years away from contending for anything

I think any move for either player would leave a reluctant feeling for the selling teams though from my POV at least, it is an interesting concept to say the least. Comtois has more youth and Kubalik has more runs on the board so to speak.
