Description
I'm pretty sure Pierre Lebrun is just saying what all us Hawks fans have been saying for a month now. MAF with 50% retention is worth a 1st round pick OR 1st round level prospect. Robertson/Knies are 1st round level prospects in my mind. I'd personally prefer Knies due to the lack of power forwards in the Hawks system, but all (3) options work for me.

TOR should just buy out Mrazek in the offseason. The Hawks aren't looking to have their own Phil Kessel situation...YES, TOR still has $1.2M on their books this year. IF hypothetically Mrazek goes to the Hawks...they're rebuilding. Keep him on the books, but waive him to Rockford. Allow Arvid Soderblom the ability to slide up/down as needed. Mrazek can be a solid back up down there and help teach the prospects how to be true professionals.

The level of the cap dump would increase the return the Hawks get. Mrazek needs to be treated SEPERATE from the 1st round pick/prospect and NOT just assumed because TOR "needs" it. There are lots of ways to solve problems. If you want CHI to solve your problems for you...pay them accordingly.

Trades
1.
CHI
  1. Dermott, Travis
  2. Knies, Matthew [Reserve List]
  3. 2023 4th round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
TOR needs to buyout Mrazek in the off season. CHI isn't really interested in having 4 years of dump on their books unless they get paid a handsome reward for doing so.
TOR
  1. Fleury, Marc-André ($3,500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Buffalo I think jumps in here to take on another 50%. and gets that 4th round pick.
2.
CHI
Future Considerations or some minor pick. Hawks don't really want Dermott, but there are teams out there that need younger Dmen. The Hawks just have 8 of them currently needing NHL ice time. Getting a 9th that's NOT an ELC isn't their need right now.
    3.
    CHI
    1. Kempný, Michal
    2. 2022 4th round pick (WSH)
    4.
    CHI
    1. Koskinen, Mikko
    2. 2022 2nd round pick (EDM)
    3. 2023 2nd round pick (EDM)
    5.
    CHI
    1. 2022 4th round pick (NSH)
    6.
    CHI
    1. 2022 3rd round pick (PIT)
    2. 2023 3rd round pick (PIT)
    Additional Details:
LAK are firmly in a playoff position and this trade doesn't send away any top prospects nor a 1st for Chiarot. It's a low cost option for a LD that's actually played the role of the #1 LD for the Hawks.
    LAK
    1. De Haan, Calvin ($2,275,000 retained)

Although as an Oiler fan I'd like to bring in Kubalik, I highly doubt the Oilers are going to trade the only goalie on their current roster that is NHL caliber and rely on Smith and Skinner to help go on a run.. Their current needs are Goalie, bottom pairing d, then a middle 6 forward(preferably a C).... Think that deal is something that could take place in the offseason...

According to the insiders everyone in the league has an asking price of a 1st and a top prospect. Since no one has moved, it's pretty clear these asking prices are too high

That's why I took out the prospect and inserted a $1.5M change of scenery player, plus a double retention. Should be more than enough.

Yeah, as I mentioned in the description. One of the three works. Either Robertson, Knies, or the 1st.

I don't know if I would move any one of those pieces for a 37 year old goalie who may or may not help. It's a very steep price to pay.

I'd have to check the cap situation, but I think WSH would accept this.

Was thinking along the de Haan to LAK lines as well. If the Hawks take back Maata (thought I read Kings aren't high on him) and not retain on de Haan, do the Hawks get their retention slot for Maata "off the books"?
