Defensemen Chiarot has more goals than

Description
I tried to keep the list to those teams either rumored to be in on Chiarot or the players rumored to be available as well. I did however throw some other big names that aren't on either list in as well.

Players on the LW are players who Chiarot has more goals and points than from teams rumored to be interested. Players on at C are players Chiarot has more goals than but less points on teams rumored to be in on Chiarot. Players on RW are players Chiarot has more goals than but less points for teams not rumored to be in on Chiarot. LD are players rumored to be available that Chiarot has more goals and points than. RD are players rumored to be available who Chiarot has more goals than but less points.

Not trying to troll just prove that while some fans dislike Chiarot for their own reasons, that Chiarot is not really as bad as everyone lets on him to be.

Disclaimer here is that some of these guys will likely pass Chiarot in at least one category but the teams rumored in on him have their reasons to like his game on both sides of the puck.

Morgan Rielly also has 46 points, Chiarot has 18, so apparently one goal is worth 29 assists?!

That is not the point of the thread, the point is to show that Chiarot is not as bad as opposing fans make him out to be. There are many players on the list with more offensive talent than Chiarot but who for whatever reason are not scoring as well or putting up as many points this year. As I said some of the players will undoubtedly pass Chiarot by the end of the season.

You are misreading what the point of the thread is (or twisting it so you can troll). This is not about value or who is better or worse it is simply to show that Chiarot has offensive talent and is not as useless as many fans like to say.

Chiarot is a minus 18. That's how good he is on both sides of the puck, he's always on the wrong side

Devils advocate here, +/- isnt a good stat to track, or else Edmundson wouldve been a top defender last season as he was among the top players in +/-

The team goals differential is -77 so unless you are called Bergeron O’Reilly Stone Danault or Lehkonen than you’re a minus

You're setting up a straw man here. Very few of us non-Montreal fans say that Chiarot is "bad" or "useless," although some of us criticize him as a "bad defender." What almost all of us constantly take issue with is Montreal fans' evaluation of him as worth a first-round draft pick and a third-round draft pick (or the equivalent added factor). Anthony DuClair has more goals (24) and points (45) than Nick Suzuki (16-27=43), but none of us is suggesting that Suzuki is "bad" or "useless" or that it would be anything but utterly insane for Montreal to trade one for the other. Yes, there is a value to offensively-productive defensemen, but Chiarot is not about to be his new team's savior when he signs his new contract.

Oh yes the infamous +- stat argument, it is such an overrated and obsolete stat to use but lets see how everyone ranks

Really, how about you go back through some ACGM's and see what most fans say about Chiarot. They call him slow, a pylon, bad defender, no offensive talent, is only good at cross checking and the list goes on and on.

EDIT** Like I said this in NOT to indicate that Chiarot is better then any of these other defensemen just that he isn't as one dimensional as many believe or like to troll about.

Well, if you say so. I'm sure that you're much more sensitive to criticism of your players than I am (of criticism of your players) -- just as I'm touchy when people say "Max Comtois needs a change of scenery" or especially "John Gibson is no longer an elite goaltender" (although his record for his 10 starts since February 1 is pretty appalling).

Probably but show me one true hockey fan who isn't passionate about their team to the point of being touchy when other fans talk trash about their team\player LOL. I get everyone is tired of seeing the Chiarot for a 1st + to their teams, but the fact is Montreal has one of the 5 biggest fanbases in the league and on this site alone the only fan base that out number us is probably the Leafs. So you are going to see a lot of trades from Habs fans from now until TDL day for Chiarot for a 1st + because that is what the pundits are saying the ask is. Blame us if you want but this isn't just Habs fans idolizing their players to the extreme this was put out there by reputable media guys with connections to NHL executives.

Well very few of them play tougher competition or get more d-zone starts than Chiarot. It does have an impact on +/-
