Interesting to see, I would not give Lysell. If that is a requirement I go down the list for next available D man

Oh 1000%. Sweeney has to find a way to add without Lysell moving but at the same time there’s gonna be a lot of moving Parts without Lysell involved. It’s gonna be hard. But I like Bostons chances of a cup with a middle 6 Add (2nd liner kinda) and a top 4 d added at TDL.

Chiarot is available and won’t cost Lysell. Just A 1st and Studnicka

Yes, Bruins really need a top 4 D man. Reilly, Clifton and Forbert are not the 3 guys I would want in the top 6 going into the playoffs.

What bruins talk said - I ignore Forbort if I’m planning to play Boston in round 1.

Whereas Chychrun or Lindholm I cannot ignore as a coaching staff in planning.

16th in scoring at 5v5

IMO scoing for this team in the playoffs will be a grind. Agree to disagree on the D, don't think they need to add a top 4LD.

1st in expected goals against
2nd in shots against
2nd in shot attempts against
1st in preventing scoring chances
2nd in preventing rush shots
7th in preventing slot passes

Do they really need a dman? Wouldn't a 2nd line C (Hertl) be the more impactful addition?

Yeah I don’t really get it either tbh. Their team defense is among the best in the league while their offense is middle of the pack and depth scoring is very meh. If I were a Bruins fans I’m hoping they go after a top 6 forward before a dman.

ALLEN SZN

Primeau can finally go back to the AHL to get a more steady team in front of him, Allen-Monty should be a decent tandem

Looking more and more likely a money in money out kind of TDL. Not going to be easy to make moves

The most “digestible” answer for Middleton is - he is prime Marc Methot.

Middleton:

- RFA TEAM CONTROLLED
- big heavy defensive minded guy who can chip in offensively a few time a year
- moustache
- if the Sharks extend him on a 2m x 3y I’m super happy
- I want an overpay for him if I’m SJ but he is expendable if you’re assuming Hatakka keep trending upwards and we have Knyzhov who you have to pray can return to form

He’s big, heavy, and very safe. Don’t often find myself cursing or questioning Middleton and he just plays a well rounded game which then is amplified and shows how truly good he is as a complimentary piece when he’s paired with an OFD. Karlsson looks like a near PPG Karlsson strong everywhere this year - and that’s hugely due to Middleton giving his partner; everything he needs.

Middleton LD, I would happily take a 2nd but I’d want more to make it willing to move as I assume Middleton would like to stay in SJ beside Karlsson. But; at the same time…

Ferraro - Burns (about locked Ferraro is the future)
? - Karlsson (locked)
? - Merkley (Merkley is taking this spot next year)

Followed on that left we have (in order);

Knyzhov (22 I think)
Middleton
Hatakka (who’s only 21 or 22 I think also without googling)
Kniazev (again also probably 20 or 21)
Simek
Our 2020-21 draft picks
Our future draft picks
Burns’ son
A pylon
Vlasic

So overall; Middleton could lose his job to Knyzhov if he returns in good health from multiple health problems/ a hernia I think (again not googling). Then Hatakka + Kniazev are nipping at the heels of Middleton, Simek, Vlasic already. And Merkley has already shown he deserves an NHL job soon. Which makes Middletons case so curious. He’s a guy a cup winning team needs… but he’s also a premium asset that SJ shouldn’t see as expendable (yet he is).

Lebrun said they are looking for a 2nd + an additional asset. So I guess like the Manson deal or better prospect. Idk maybe a bidding war starts and someone gives them a 1st like Goodrow

But apparently hes available. Dont know why but he is. Maybe Wilson sees an opportunity to expand the retool

Its not hard but the choices will be trickier

Like if we look at Players at the TDL and their what we could get with what I believe is 1.5mill in space once all is done

Middleton 145K
Giordano 1.35mill
Forsberg 900k
Vajmelka 832k
Jarnkrok 400k
Donato 150k
Blackwell 145k
Mayfield 290k

Now lets say Dubas moves Kerfoot or Dermott or Both. 2 or 3 guys on this list can happen. Heck Burry Mrazek and you could get 4.

Teams wanting to reach the floor next year especially will look at Kerfoot. The guy has 40 points with no PP time and has a pretty good contract now. Dermott is a depth guy and as we saw with Sieg someone will go get them. Even if they barely play.

On this list if it can happen

Middleton + Forsberg (Unless Kallgren continues to impress) + Donato be my picks

NHL TDL is boring sometimes compared to NBA TDL

As NBA TDL had 2 huge blockbusters this year

NBA will have maybe 1 if were lucky

But its gonna be like a bunch of depth guys go for 3rd, 4th and 5th round picks and maybe we see one bigger trade.

That's because depth matters in the NHL, and in the NBA if you have 2-3 superstars you could win it all with just them.

I think they are at the top since January. They had early season struggles but seem to have straightened that out. Right now Marchand and Bergeron are a bit cold but they will get going. Going into the season I did not think scoring would be that much of an issue but I did not like the D. I think Zboril was finding his game but that is done with. Reilly, Clifton, Forbert are not what you want in the playoffs. Puts too much onus on McAvoy, Carlo and Gryz. Leads to more mistakes.

Kind of surprised Boston didnt call up Anaheim and make a deal for Rakell and Manson

Manson replaces Clifton and Rakell can play on their 2nd or 3rd line to create balance.

14th in goals for since Jan 1
5th in goals against since Jan 1

You watch the team more than I do, so won't question it too hard. Just as an outsider, scoring seems like more of a need than D.
