Florida is dumping salary

Based on the "Cup checklist", the Leafs biggest needs are
• Another no. 1 defenseman
• An elite goaltender

Elite/Top Pair/Top Six blah blah are all according to the GSVA models.

14th is fine. 16th is fine. I always find you can put good forwards together but the chemistry does not always work. I think the Bruins need to get a bit bigger and tougher on D. D can always be there if you have the right pieces. Instead of needing to win 4-3, you might only need 2-1 wins. I think we need an upgrade for both but a top 4 D and a bottom 6 D addition is needed and then we have good depth. I would love a middle 6 forward as well and I would love to get rid of Foligno but they are fixated on playing Foligno. He is "good in the locker room". I wish he would stay in the locker room and the Bruins get someone else to play.

The clock is ticking for him to win the Cup, he's an expiring contract and they're very low on futures (thank Francis). It makes sense to me.

Giroux

Asset management matters a lot more than sentiment.

They already flubbed the expansion draft. If they flub the deadline too it'll be a long, long time until they're relevant. The league needs to avoid a Columbus-West in Seattle.

Will they play him as a faceoff taking winger, or move one of their top3 centers to wing?

What if Giroux does what Hall did with the sabres? and Florida gets him for like Loustrainen and a Second...that would be kind of interesting because its better than getting nothing.
