Chiarot = 1st + 3rd
Dvorak = Pelltier + monohan + 4th
Switch 2nd to 4th, and it's fair.

Theres no point in offloading Monahan’s contract if you are taking on Dvorak’s. We need all that money off the books.

It cost Toronto a first round pick to get rid of Marleau deal. I assume that anyone who will be taking on Monahan deal without sending back money will ask for a huge haul. At least if they trade for Dvorak who is a very solid 2nd/3rd centerman gave Calgary depth at probably the most important position in hockey. They also would save 2 millions in cap space which would help them a lot. But if they can find a deal to unload Monahan contract then it would be the beat option. But you would still be a center short.

Marleau was also 40yrs old and making pretty much the same that monahan is now except monahan is only 27 so its a bit different. I think it would only cost us a 2nd rnder cuz his buyout aint even that bad. Either way my point was that we need all the $6m in space for our upcoming FAs so cant take the dvorak contract even if hed be a good 3rd line center for us. Wed be better off buying Monahan out cuz then his cap hit is only $2m. Not really a center short either cuz we got Ruzicka who has been solid for us in the middle 6 and Richardson can easily play the 4th line center role.

Not sure I agree... even though we're going to need Mony's money off the book s next season to re-sign 13, 19, 58m and 88, we're still going to need a decent middle-six center. The two million difference doesn't seem like a lot, but a serviceable Dvorak in Mony's place could be huge.

Come on now, we are trolling with this right?

Not gonna trade Pelletier or a pick to offload Monahan. He's 27 with 1 year left. There will be a team who would pay a 3rd or 4th to take a chance on him and could help a team hit the cap floor. This trade is nonsense.

Flames do not need Chiarot, so why would they pay a 1st +?
Dvorak has been pretty bad this year, so he isn't going to net a top prospect. That's like saying Monahan is worth Harris +

The $2m isnt enough. Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Mangiapane and Kylington will get a combined raise well over $2m so we need more money. Ruzicka will play the 3rd line center role next season and him at $1m or less is much better than Dvorak at $4m+. Sutter said himself at his presser yesterday that if Ruzicka is gonna play the 4th line center role than he might as well play in Stockton so he is going to play 3rd line. With our cap situation we need to make use of these cheaper contracts.

I agree that Dvorak at 4,5 could be a nice addition. Since Lindholm play 20 minutes a night they just need someone who can contribute for 15-17 minutes and Dvorak can be a very effective guy’s on a 2nd -3rd line. Since Center line are extremely important in NHL i see that as a good move for them.
