Description
Trying to gain cap flexibility while not going into a full on rebuild. Man, the cap situation is rough in Vancouver for the next few years.

TRADES:

PIT
Trying to be realistic. This felt...not great from Van's side, but I thought Pit might feel the same, so maybe this is reasonable? Maybe Pit needs to add a pick?

LAK
LA has a lot of RD prospects, and Boeser would be really nice for them up front for this playoff run. If they resign him all the better. Again I felt uncomfortable doing this one, but maybe the 2nd becomes a 1st if they resign him? I think that makes things feel slightly better from Van's perspective, and there really isn't space for Grans in the LA lineup in the foreseeable future. Not sure either team says yes. Thoughts on how to make it work?

COL
Compher and Motte have produced very similarly this season. For the same cap hit this season Col gets to add a depth D for their run, and Van gets cap flexibility in the coming seasons.

NJD
Ok, this one is weird. Van takes Garland for Zacha. Take a 4th instead of a higher pick in exchange for shuffling some of their inefficient money into this year and the following one instead of the longer term inefficiency of Dickinson. Anything to simply drop from this one? Anyone need to add?

Are you really VAN's fan smile ? These are very realistic trades.
PIT: yes. Realistic and maybe the most that anybody would offer.
LAK: likely yes (assuming Boeser signs contract below his QO). I just think LAK would like to switch Grans for more offensively oriented RDs (Durzi, Spence, Faber). Grans is their only bigger D-prospect.
COL: yes. Salary move for COL, they also add grit on F and another big D-man for playoff run. VAN gets the best player.
NJD: only possible if NJD wants to definitely be playoff team next season. I am not sure if NJD would like to trade Zacha for Garland; Zacha is also younger. NJD might improve their RWs from within. Beside Mercer they also got Holtz in AHL.

Appealing offer for Boeser, whether you want Spence or Grans. However, you can't make a draft pick conditional upon a player's signing a new contract any more.

Good to know. I was not aware. Are there other conditions that could be added? Getting to the 3rd round, or maybe individual playoff points?

Both conditions are acceptable under the new version of the CBA. You could also make a pick conditional upon playing in a number of games, as was the case with Jeff Carter.

Interesting. I think Van would happily take Durzi instead. Obviously they would LOVE to pull Clarke (also offensively calibrated), but I'm assuming that's just not a possibility.

Would probably hope to use one of those as the condition instead in that case.

I like the idea of trading for JT Miller more than Boeser. Personally I'd be ok with that deal.
