Those aren't the additional elements we'd want in a trade for Hampus Lindholm, especially if the pick is a 2023 first, so Anaheim declines. And Getzlaf has said that he would almost certainly veto any trade.

? The 2023 first is more valuable than a 2022 one. It's a better draft and the Penguins have a good chance of being worse that year.

Hahaha, that’s fair. Think he’s better than most give him credit for, but that’s a lot to pay for him to play 15 minutes a night.

One in the hand is worth two in the bush.

To put it another way, "having a chance" doesn't outweigh "one year earlier, and sooner to the NHL."

The 2023 draft is widely considered to be a better draft. Teams are reportedly asking for picks from there for that reason.

It’s a better asset that outweighs any “better sooner” stuff.
