Apparently Motte is their #1 target on the Canucks rn and the Canucks are very interested in Liljegren.

Just putting one and one together!

Well the problem is value. Liljegren is a young, right handed defenseman who has shown promise his first season in the NHL. Motte is an expiring UFA. Why would the Leafs do this?

In the two games vs Devils, I was impressed with Motte. I imagine some team will pay up for him. But it would be prospect or pick type of deal, I imagine.

I mostly made the post to get Leafs fans reactions, but maybe there's something there as package?

Maybe something around those two and Schenn. (someone else that they had interest in).

The Canucks goal is to get a defenseman (preferably right handed), who is in the 20-25 age range, so Liljegren would fit that really well.

If they added another RD at deadline, maybe it makes sense. But I think they need his minutes now.

Maybe a Chase Priskie, Dylan Coghlan, or Phil Kemp could fit here.

It could work, but it would probably have to include Luke Schenn as well for the leafs to do it.

Have you seen Liligren's stats. He has been better than what people give him credit for.

Trading him for Motte would be really dumb lul

Unless a better RD is coming back or its a better wing with term I dont see him going anywhere.

Even if we add we can just send him to the minors and call him up next season. Trading an RFA with no arbitration for 3 months of Motte makes 0 sense. Especially when we got Mikheyev and Engvall

Giving up Corson Ceulemans for 8 games of Nick Foligno didn’t make sense either. But deadline deals can be funny.

But I agree they should be asking for less here. And I suggested some other guys that are probably more likely.

Dylan Coghlan probs is the best as Priskie is a UFA and could walk

If they want defensive RD, Phil Kemp would be the guy to target I think.

If the want more offensive RD, maybe Mennell would be good.

There's a chance of a Foote out of Tampa as well. He seems to be out of favour with Tampa and they love their Grindy skilled forwards

Devils called dibs on the other Foote though.
