The contract value isnt bad but what exactly is SJS trying to do here? They arent close to a playoff spot and they already have roughly 36.5M per year on the books for their aging core of Couture, Karlsson, Burns, Vlasic, and the Jones buyout. They wouldve been better off trading him for futures and trying to rebuild
The NMC alone is one reason why I'm voting 'no' for this deal. Another part to the reason is that it could potentially turn into a boat anchor like the other ones (EK, Vlasic, Burns) they have.

How are they going to rebuild? With their contracts that is literally impossible.
idk, but u are totally gonna be stuck in a state of mediocrity for years, your aging core wouldn't be good enough to make the playoffs but you would be bad enough that u get lots of high draft picks

We got Eklund. Coe. Robins. Gush. Ozzy. Bords. We're gonna be fine
No clue what San Jose is doing. Some of these teams refuse to acknowledge where their team truly is and make smart decisions to make their team better in the long run. The team should be rebuilding. Not giving out more huge contracts to guys pushing 30. I guess they're just content on barely missing the playoffs year after year.
Nope, I agree. Hertl is a decent player, but he’s not worth 8 mil long term. The sharks are also in a horrible position with all those anchor contracts.
