For cap reasons Ruzicka is likely not staying in the NHL, they need to make a move and the team has shown their preference to Ritchie so...yea...

Even if they did that they wouldn't be compliant in time. Ritchie's cap hit wouldn't come off the books until he clears waivers the next day, while Ruzicka is waiver exempt so his hit comes off right away, so Ruzicka had to go. I hope they call him back up after waiving Ritchie, but I doubt it will happen.
