Initial Creation Date: Mar. 17, 2022
Published: Mar. 17, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Think we might see a lot of moves from Kent Hughes in the next few days.
Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Lundkvist, Nils
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (NYR)
NYR
  1. Lehkonen, Artturi
  2. 2022 4th round pick (NYR)
2.
MTL
  1. Koskinen, Mikko
  2. Savoie, Carter [Reserve List]
  3. 2023 4th round pick (EDM)
  4. 2024 5th round pick (EDM)
EDM
  1. Allen, Jake
  2. Kulak, Brett ($850,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Trade breakdown:
Kulak normally gets a 4th + 5th
Allen and taking Koskinen's contract gets Savoie
(Savoie could be replaced by Petrov or Holloway depending who you prefer)
3.
MTL
  1. 2024 4th round pick (PIT)
PIT
  1. Armia, Joel
Additional Details:
Armia can be a good add for playoffs with a change of scenery. Pens don't have many forwards signed for next year, they acquire him for barely anything.
4.
MTL
    Future considerations
    ARI
    1. Weber, Shea
    Additional Details:
Yotes reach the floor for next year, habs don't have to pay Weber. Win-Win.
    5.
    MTL
    1. Grans, Helge
    Additional Details:
Kings were interested in Hoffman before he signed in Mtl. He can step in on a 2nd line with Danault. They can afford his contract easily with all their ELCs. Prospect doesn't have to be Grans, but the equivalent of a 2nd round pick would work.
    6.
    MTL
    1. Boychuk, Johnny
    2. Portillo, Erik [Reserve List]
    3. 2022 1st round pick (VGK)
    Additional Details:
Sabres are said to be looking for a "veteran RHD" to play with Owen Power. I think Petry could be a very good fit there for the next 3 years.
    BUF
    1. Petry, Jeff
    2. 2022 4th round pick (TBL)

So oilers are paying handsomely to move kosk expiring contract to replace him with a worse option? No thanks on that swap. Kulak I’m not high on not sure is any better than internal options but a 4th or 5th rounder can be done.

Habs are not paying Weber , insurance is covering his salary. I would be surprised to see Petry accept a deal to Buffalo.

Petry would be a good fit for Buffalo (for a smaller return) even if BUF fans will scream out empty arguments against it.

I could see him accept to go there since his hometown is on the other side of Eerie Lake.

Kulak would play on edmonton's second pairing right now. Allen has proved that he can be a no.1 or at least a 1B, which is better than anything the oilers have right now. You might not like the trade but the value is there.

Still, habs would rather trade him and it helps arizona. As for Petry, I don't think his trade request is necessarily about the team being bad, but more about his family situation. With that said, he could reject it, but I expect that his 15-team list includes every canadian team + probably Seattle, Arizona, Chicago already
