TDL Address needs now and for next year

Initial Creation Date: Mar. 18, 2022

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Pens need to upgrade winger depth and try to clear some cap space to resign Letang, Malkin, and Rust. I think these two deals accomplish that goal and are actually reasonable.
Arizona trade is essentially Zucker for Kessel. Clears space for resigning, gives Zucker a chance to be a star on a new team or another trade chip for Arizona to use for other picks and keeps them above cap floor. Also a swap or prospects that could use a new place to be. Those two guys could easily be dropped and wouldn't hurt my feelings.
Swap with Wings looks like good hockey deal. Wings maybe get the better end of the deal in the long run, but it accomplishes a goal for the pens.

Not even close on Bertuzzi. No interest in Kapanen at all and you're severely short on return assets and that's not even accounting for the laughable 3rd you also have Detroit sending back. Cost for Bertuzzi is 1 A+ asset (high 1st round pick or top prospect), 1 A asset (mid to late 1st round pick or top 5 prospect) and 1 B level asset (2nd round pick or top 20 prospect).

Add Poulin and a 1st and Detroit MAY start talking. Still think Bert is better value.

Wings pass and it's not close. Penguins don't have the assets that the wings want, not a good trade partner for bertuzzi

I think the Wings fans greatly over value Bertuzzi and undervalue the return pieces. While I agree they'd WANT more for him... I'm not sure they're going to get much more, especially from the Pens.

I don’t think Yzerman is actively trying to trade Bertuzzi. But he’s open to it and I think his mindset is “we like him and if you want him, you’ll have to pay OUR price, not yours.” Doesn’t mean other teams will pay that, and Detroit is perfectly fine keeping Bert.

They won't and that's what I said, pens aren't a trade partner for the red wings with bertuzzi. They don't have assets we want

We overate a guy who can be retained, playing top 3 minutes, can play pp,pk, would run through a wall for his teammates, plays his heart out every single shift, produces a ton of points. Chariot got a 1st, 3rd and a prospect, but bertuzzi doesn't have higher value then that? He's also signed and could be retained next season as well. Also look what wings got for mantha, I think we aren't overrating him,but putting his value exactly where it's at

Then we just keep Bertuzzi...? We don't have to trade him and don't necessarily want to move him either, so if we get junk offers like this, we just happily keep him.

What if Detroit has no intension of trading him? David Pagnotta in an interview on the NHL Network said Pittsburgh should target Garland, Boeser and Bertuzzi. His reasoning for putting Bertuzzi on the list was teams were interested in him last year and Yzerman will listen to all offers. Then he goes on to say his choice would be Garland because his asking price and his cap hit won't be as much as the other 2. Hextall said he would like to add someone with a couple years of term. He'd be willing to trade Pettersson or Marino for to create cap space for the new addition.

This seems to be hard for Montreal, Pittsburgh, Toronto and Boston fans to figure out or accept. I mean hell; yesterday Sevarelli quoted an unnamed GM calling Bertuzzi a "slightly less talented Marchand". What would Boston want for Marchand? We're certainly not taking less than we got for Mantha.

Pens AGMs went from MASSIVLY overpaying for Boeser to underpaying for Bertuzzi over night.

I suppose this specific one comes from THW, who put out absolute trash articles, Detroit and Pittsburgh
"Is a trade of Kapanen and Pettersson for Bertuzzi enough for the Red Wings? From all accounts that should be a trade offer capable of getting Hextall’s attention in Pittsburgh, however Yzerman loves to work a hard bargain in Motown so there’s likely still lots to be worked out. The makings of a blockbuster deal loom between these two clubs as the trade deadline is less than a week away."

At least in this AGM you added the slight up-pay of a 2nd for a 3rd.
