Another fact I like about this trade for Tampa is it helps my objective of wanting to go from winning cups and deep playoff runs to immediately last in the league.
Mid-league purgatory is my worst fear.

Lowkey Hagel could end up as Palat’s replacement for the future.

It looks like Travis dermott will be traded in the next few days, I wonder if that’s something lou will look into. Didn’t he draft Dermott?

No hunter did as Lou and Dubas wanted Aho

As he somehow convinced both to go for that kid on the Otters breaking all kinds of records. While I wouldnt say it was a bad idea Aho would have been the better end result.

And people still wanted Hunter to be GM. After looking at his draft record beside Marner oh god it would have been bad.

Boeser seems more likely. Can’t see WSH giving up either goalie right now

hagel at 1.5m for 2 more years performing at a 60% ppg rate. if he keeps that up or exceeds thats one of the biggest bargain contracts in the nhl nevermind that hes a 20 goal scorer...
lehky on the other hand is scoring at a 39% ppg rate and doesnt have a contract next year. is 3 years older and never been a 20 goal scorer. until it happens im going to be very adamant about the habs not being able to get a 1st for lehky. massive massive overpay if that happens.

Hagel got two firsts(+). We're talking about half of that for Lehkonen. It's not that much of an overpay.

I have doubts about any more 1sts being available. There would be players above Lehkonen to get them. Which is fine, because Montreal would prefer a prospect (RHD especially). You might see a 1st for Giroux or Lindholm.

Tampa and Florida are cleaned out and they were in the biggest arms race. Colorado should be making a move to pace Calgary given their injuries.

Only Edmonton or Toronto in addition, could realistically justify moving a 1st at this point, because they are desperate for any kind of playoff success.

Vegas and Carolina might see minor tweaks, other teams may make minor adds or players with term, or look to address weaknesses at cheap prices. Hard to justify going all in on a rental when you've already lost the arms race.

Boeser’s value is pretty low right now but it’s currently a sellers market. I’d rather trade him to a desperate contender than trade him to the Devils

I think this is the first time we have seen a player traded for 2 1sts since Kessel

Or was there someone else in between these 2.

lehky isnt a top 6 forward. while i think hagel is. idc about linemates, ive seen enough of both players to opinionate that hagel will continue being a top 6 forward at 1.5m for 2+ years while lehkonen is having his best career year and he wont ever match this production again. good defensive player.

now does hagel keep up his 22.3% shot percentage no chance. there will definitely be regression in his stats. however i also dont think lehkonen keeps up his 12% shooting clip himself.

That's just opinions. Hagel's "top 6 play" so far is just spending all of his icetime with Kane, Toews & Jones with a high sh% percentage. Lehkonen, on the other hand, his most common teammates are Evans, Chiarot & Petry. Quite the difference.

Watch Vegas put him back on LTIR until playoffs and they go out and get Giroux. Not gonna happen but that would be mad funny

I was assuming Washington trades for a veteran goalie

I doubt any contender's can afford his next contract

3 teams in on Gio

Toronto, Carolina, Rangers

None are willing to give a 1st for him.

Francis wants a 1st

All indications are the front runner is Toronto as per Serevalli Gio has stated he wants to go home.

I feel everyone gonna go bid for Lindholm and while that goes on Dubas gonna go spend a 2nd + for Gio or something. Maybe not but I like the dont rush and spend a tonne on rental mentality.

Spend big on guys with term and spend little on rentals.

That’s because Lehkonen is more of a defensive specialist with limited offensive upside. You don’t get prime minutes with elite players without proving you can hang with them offensively, unless your name is Brett Ritchie on the 2020-21 Flames. Hagel did. Lehkonen hasn’t (not that Montreal has any elite players, but you know what I mean).

Friedman said on 32 thoughts that varlamovs name is still out there, same with Clutterbuck. Despite Parise coming out and saying he wants to return to the isles next season, Friedman said he wants to go to a contender this season.

How did I know over Tampa fans Brisbois comments about not having cap space to make moves at the TDL were bull**** lul.

They kept telling me we cant do a move

Brisbois was just playing the media like a fiddle

Also kind of predicted Hagel to Tampa as it was right up their alley. Didnt think they would pay that much but they got their guy.

Well, he didn't have it before today-if not for shipping out Raddysh+Katchouk, he wouldn't have (had the space).

sure but hagel has 2 years in the league. this is lehkonens 6th and best year by a significant margin. and he was getting 2nd line ice time for 3 years. you just cant force a player into something he isnt. not for nothing, but hagels probably playing with point and kucherov so i mean you can say all you want about teammates propping you up or not but hes shown he can play and produce with elite players. something we really havent seen lehkonen do.

I meant to post it 2 hours ago (and then I saw Seravalli's tweet about Hagel and all hell broke loose). Ridiculous. He should take that offer and run, but apparently he wants $3 mil AAV. Any team would be nuts to give that...

I just watched the habs playoff recap. So sad. Not many players from that run are currently in the habs. I wish I took advantage of the time habs were playing like that.
F*** tampa for destroying my dreams.
