dermott will get traded for a proper package of value imo, the leafs aren't just gonna give away a viable 6-7 NHL defenceman lol

Unfortunately that is the value of a 6-7 defenceman

it may be, but a guy signed through next year who can play NHL minutes >>> 5th round pick, they aren't sellers and dermott isn't a pending UFA, there's no pressure to trade him at the deadline unless they get something back imo

I don’t think they trade Dermott because of how the team is doing, I think it’s more of a favour to him, give him a fresh start somewhere where he could see some ice time, because he’s been surpassed in Toronto by multiple people.

I hope I’m wrong though, would love a greater return, I just think that’s kinda what you would get back for a guy who is in and out of the lineup

Canucks aren’t trading Motte for just a 4th. Might as well keep him for their playoff push. Going to be a 2nd to get him probably

I think Dubas would consider it definitely. 2nd seems steep for a 4th line guy to me, but that’s just me (I know he’s one of vancouvers most trusted players).

I also think Vancouver wouldn’t hold onto him, just so that they can pick up future assets on an expiring contract, especially if they aren’t locked into a playoff spot. Wouldn’t want to lose him for free.

Think he’s a great depth piece though

Leafs have seven NHL Dmen, and Muzzin on LTIR makes eight. No way they trade Dman without getting one in return. With Muzzin returning, Leafs don't really have the cap to make any substantial move unless they trade cap out. IMO really quiet TDL for the Leafs.

He’s like a 4th/3rd liner that is one of our best PKers. Canucks are competing for a playoff spot so idk if they’re going to let him go for anything less than a 2nd

I think Dermott is heading to Seattle as part of a Gio trade.
