A weird one

Description
This seems sort of strange but it just might work. Appleton is being used as a RW with Seattle but he is a natural C that can play either side, too. He's a good defensive player so he offsets Phil but he can also score a bit. I know LOC just signed the 3-year deal but the Avs have plenty of 4th liners that can't score and they can always find more.

I don’t get that loc trade, you are trading for the same player but older and more expensive as an rfa.

Loc is a natural c, he played his whole ncaa and ahl career, just is a rw in the nhl bc that’s what he needed to be to make the avs

I really like the buy low on Appleton idea, but im not fond of giving up O'Connor. Hes strong defensively and I think hes been unlucky on offense - Hes never going to be an elite shooter but I think his S% should be higher than 5.5%, he also has 10.2 xG but only 6 goals according to Moneypuck. I wonder what it would take for Appleton if the package was made of just picks/prospects

I'm also intrigued by the target but would keep LOC. That dude will pay dividends when he amps it up for the playoffs. He's a guy championship teams want.

Maybe a package around Kaut? Idk. Tough to know how much Seattle values Appelton.

I would think they'd be willing to part with him for the right price. He's an older RFA so maybe they'd take Kaut and a low pick or just Kaut straight-across because he's younger and cheaper.
