Possible Flyers Trade

Created by: JPM
Team: 2017-18 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 22, 2017
Published: Apr. 22, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This roster makes the Flyers a little younger and gives them more flexibility when looking to the future. Cousins is taken in the expansion draft because he is the most NHL ready young player on the Flyers to pick up. Laughton is overlooked due to plying in the AHL this past season. The Raffl trade is risky in terms of Yakupov's production, no one knows where he is going from here. Lyubimov by some long shot resigns and doesn't go back to Russia. I thought he played well and gritty during the season but wasn't given much of a chance to play. Flyers ship out Read probably to ARI, but could be somewhere else. Neuvy is traded to be a capable backup/ tandem, I could see him going to EDM, DAL, or WPG all could use a backup goalie at least. Voracek for Ryan is not the evenest of trades but both have similar contracts and Ryan's is less. Ryan has averaged about ten points less than Voracek over the last three seasons. Bellamere is thrown in becuase Ottawa will need some role player. Niel, Wingel, Stalberg, Kelly, Pyatt are all UFAs and two are over 35 yrs. old. Dunn has Bot 6 F potential at best, and the 2nd rounder evens out the trade.

That Ottawa trade is atrocious! Voracek is worth more than what the flyers are getting in return alone.

Here is my reasoning for that deal, please let me know what you think. If you look at the past four seasons Ryan averages 45.75 pts/season , Voracek averages 64.75 pts/season your still right. However exclude the outliers, Voracek's ridiculous 81 pt season and Ryan's 26 pt season and the numbers become Voracek 59.333 and Ryan 52.666, pts/season. Now Vorack is signed to a front loaded deal that averages 1 million more dollars a year, and he is signed for two years longer than Ryan. If my corrected averages held I would say it's an almost fair one for one deal. So I'd say a 3rd rounder to the Flyers and a player swap is fair to assume the risk. Bellemare is a "PK speacilist" and 4th liner signed to a 1.45 mil for two seasons, probably overpayed when pur PK was tenth or eleventh worst in the league, not all on Bellemare but we supposedly had him because he's so good on the PK. That being said I could see Bellemare being worth a bottom six forward prospect and a late round pick. Hence Dunn, and instead of a 3rd and a 6th or 5th, we get a second. All and all my values may be off but I 'd still like to here your reasoning on why the deal is atrocious and what you'd expect back instead. I could also see Ottawa saying crap we need to fill those bottom lines and overpaying in a trade for one or two because there won't be as many bottom liners as usual with Vegas coming into the league.

Also, any thoughts on the Yakupov and Lethonen trades?

I get you like Voracek but he has little value you like you suggest. He has way more value to the flyers and if we moved him we won't be getting anything close to value back so that trade actually isn't bad. Voracek might be able to get a deal like Kessel at best but that requires salary to be retained - something the flyers wouldn't do since it would be for 7 years. Stop giving everyone so much crap for trading Jake when you have no idea what his value is. He isn't worth 3 first rounders or anything like that so relax.
