Rubstov and Bunnaman are fodder for waivers.

This trade should be looked at as:

Giroux
2024 5th round pick

for

Owen Tippett
Florida's 2024 1st with Top 10 protection
Florida's 2023 3rd

I have issues with this trade for Philly.

Why do the Flyers need to wait until 2024 for Florida's 1st in the Giroux trade ...

but the Habs only need to wait until 2023 for Florida's 1st in the Chiarot trade??

Why would the Flyers accept a package for Giroux that is roughly equal to the package for Ristolainen??

And give Florida 50% salary retention on Giroux + Rubstov + Bunnaman + the 5th round pick??

Chuck Fletcher owes an explanation.

You know which team I voted for.

I'm so disappointed. So little in return for Giroux. Voted for Florida.

Florida is really throwing away their future for a single cup run, wow.

hmm... I rather see a team go trade crazy for a Cup contending team for a couple years, than play it safe and be a playoff contender for 5 decades with zero results.

Ask the Tbay fans how they're enjoying their back to back Cup wins or rather all the Draft picks the team could have kept.

Considering what teams have been giving up for what seem like less impactful players, this is a surprisingly low return. I suspect there was a big bidding war for those other players, but Giroux’s no-move clause prevented that from happening here. I wonder how many other teams he would have agreed to go to. I think Colorado would have been a better destination for him.

Tampa didn't trade away all their first rounders in the next three years during a single season, and they didn't trade them all away for rentals.

Oh man I knew that Giroux was knee capping them by only waiving for FLA but this is a terrible return. Tip doesn't look good and getting a 1st in 3 years time rather than Mackie is just awful. Fletcher might be the worst GM in the league right now.

Giroux was ultimately the decider in the trade. Can't really do anything but ask for Mackie. If Florida doesn't want to include him (and they didn't), his best option is to take the next best available. I'm not really holding my breath on Owen Tippett, but he's still relatively young and maybe the change of scenery will be beneficial. He also has red hair so that is a plus. The 1st rounder won't be here for a while but the Flyers aren't going to be contending anytime soon.

End of the day the Flyers got a 1st rounder for three months of Giroux. Still decent enough to make the move.

I'd actually argue that CF did a good job having so much smoke coming from Colorado even leading up to the initial announcement of Florida being the destination.

Not even gonna go into the deal itself, I'm just happy as a Wings fan that our planned period of contention is NOT this year. The Atlantic is stacked.

FLA really giving us a “**** them picks” deadline.

Really are TBL’s little brother.

Any team that receives a Claude Giroux is a clear winner.

Kind of have to as soon they got to extend Huberdeau who could ask for 9.5mill and Weegar 6-6.5mill
Marchment probs leaving as a UFA and Hornqvist probs gonna need to get dumped

Will be interesting to watch though.

That 2024 being protected takes away any real value it would have. Huge W for Florida here.

It would cool to see that in the first round (if that happened, the Leafs would win the Atlantic, and if would probably play Boston, again). It would also be ironic if the Battle of Florida never happened this year because Toronto eliminates the Panthers or Lightning and finally breaks through the first round.

Give up more for Risto than you get for Giroux. Not great. Better hope Tippett can turn it around

The reason the flyers have to wait until 2024, is for the fact you already pointed out, Montreal bas their 2023 1st, and the sabs have their 2022 1st. Pretty dumb question man.
