Blues dont have the cap for this. Switch Marner to Nylander.

A balanced lineup, especially on D. You’ve got D men who aren’t afraid to lay the body in Bortuzzo and Middleton and with Muzzin healthy this is a Top 5 D core in the league opposed to the mediocre AHL level D they have now. Leafs will have to Trade Marner or Tavares if they want playoff type pieces back. They’ll never win in the playoffs without depth, you can’t have 3 players making 10M + and have depth in a lineup… not enough $$$

St Louis would be stupid to pass up Marner.

Okay so let me get this straight.... a 3rd pair of middleton and bortuzzo bring the leafs dcore for AHL level to top 5 in the league? And suddenly bonino and barbashev provide more value then marner in the playoffs? Do you realize how utterly stupid you sound here? I'm guessing this is just a joke thread so that's how I'll take it. Hahaha..haha

No they wouldn't. He'd cap strap the team. Make it Nylander and take on Binnington.

Did I say they provide more “value” no but when you’re getting all 5 of those key pieces back to round out a lineup that’s only one dimensional it makes them a much better playoff team. You cannot win without a #1 goalie, Campbell is a 1B at his best and Mrazek pitiful. The teams that win cups have the best 5 and 6 pairing D men in the league. It doesn’t matter what your top lines do it comes down to depth. Obviously you don’t watch enough playoff hockey to realize that.

Playoff hockey always comes down to your top players. It's always been that way. Sure the "depth" gets a lot of play in the media, but that's not what wins you cups. Point, Stamkos, Kuch Vasy, Hedman are the main contributers on a cup winning team the last 2 years. Other than that, Crosby, Malkin, Kessel, Letang, Murry. Backstrom, Ovi, Kusy, Carlson, Holtby. This is pretty easy to see no? If those guys don't produce you don't go anywhere come playoff time. Unless you missed that? Have YOU watched any playoffs recently? Husso is not some proven #1 goalie. Actually I'd put him close to what Campbell was last year. He's going to regress at some point, all goalies do. I agree that their goalies aren't good enough, but you're takes here don't make any sense.

They'd be stupid to do this deal, if only for cap reasons. And there are plenty more reasons on top of that.
