Forsberg, Paul, Mete for Hathaway, Vanecek, Johansen, Fehervary, McMichael

That return from Ottawa doesn't net Vanecek, Fehervary, or McMichael individually.

I would do that as Ottawa but we don't really need the pieces but Fehervary, McMichael are very intriguing and Vaneck would replace Forsberg, you can then keep Hathaway, but I'd want Johansen too. I think the return is that much as it would take a lot to take Forsberg away from Ottawa as he has been amazing and will likely be the starter next season.

HA! Forsberg is barely a NHLer much less a NHL starter. He is at best a #3 for a team with any goalie depth. Ottawa has had such poor goaltending over the last 5 years that someone finally manages to sneak under 3.00GAA and he is considered starter quality. If Ottawa can get something for him they should, but whatever the deal is the other team lost that trade.

Washington counters with:
Forsberg, Paul, Mete, 3rd for Hathaway, Johansen
Actually, no.
Forsberg has no value to the Caps. Sansonov, Vanecek, and Copley are all better. Fucale potentially even out duels him making Forsberg 5th on the depth chart at best.
Mete has no value period, even as depth. Small, can't clear a puck much less a body. Not worth the paperwork for the Caps to trade for then waive.

Washington counters with Paul for Hathaway

Hey, lets look at Save percentage

Vitek Vanecek has a save percentage in 31 games of 919% which is neet but he has been hurt a lot
Ilya Samsonov has a save percentage in 34 games of 900% which is well below league average.
Pheonix Copley has a save percentage in 2 games of 878% which is a limited saple size but very bad.
Zachary Fucale has a save percentage in 4 games of 924$% but he has only played four games which does not really give us accurate data.

Anton Forsberg in front of a weaker defense has a save percentage in 34 games of 918% and has a little less wins on a team that has not been good then you're goalies, 4 less than Samsonov, and 2 less than Vanecek. He is also one of the league leading goalies in wins with 40+ saves. You tell anyone to the face that their not an NHL starter and they will laugh at you, he'd be you're second best goalie maybe even you're best.

Yeah, cause save %, over 34 games, for a 29 year old, is the only stat that matters obviously. Even crossing leagues to pull that stat, quality.

I don't really care if the Senators want to give him a bunch of money to be their starter. Bottom feeders need to stay at the bottom after all. However, the Capitals, and any team that has any sense, are not going to trade for career journeyman who can't stay in the league. Enjoy that Matt Murray cap hit for two more years too.

I have no reason to see him in person, much less talk to him... but hey Anton... you're not an NHL starter. Not even a good NHLer of any kind. Some sub-AHL level Euro team will call you this summer, I suggest that you take the call. But good on you for living your dream.

Hey maybe go to NHL.com Anton Forsberg and look at his stats himself if you don't believe me, it's also very sad that you can't accept that another goalie is better than the one you have and how you expected it to be cross league. And hey, he's been better than goalies such as Illya Samsonov, MAF, Phillip Grubouer, Sergei Bobrovsky, Jack Campbell, Jonathan Quick, John Gibson, Adin Hill, Jonathan Bernier, James Reimer, would you like me to keep going. If he is not a NHL goalie then you can hardly argue that any of these guys are right? For the last year and a half he has been one of the top goalies in this league and any team that has any sense at all would love him as a backup to their starter. But to bad because he is not leaving Ottawa. And hey, Murray contract can be bought out so... And hey, 1 save percentage point behind Andre Vasilevskiy means that he is an okay starter in your book. So, there will be a lot of Euro teams calling these guys and Anton Forsberg wouldn't be one of them. Also, I don't think he's played in the AHL in the past 2 years.

I'm sorry but Forsberg is not better than Vanecek...Maybe this season he has been a little bit better but I think Vanecek is going to be better in the long run. Also... in no way, shape, or form would the Caps upgrade in goal a little bit this season by throwing away two of their best young players...This trade is just terrible in every way.
