Bryson is a fine player but idk if he’s better than Riikola and they want size with the feet and he doesn’t bring that at all, they’d take Hagg first

That’s fair. I was just looking for the cost control young guy too as money can dry up with Letang and Geno needing extensions

Montreal would want the Vegas' pick since the Cats pick is probably 31 or 32. Otherwise the deal is fine.

Where is the Penguins looking to for a defenseman that can "move his feet" thing coming from? I've only seen it form Jeff Marek (who was also saying they should trade for Nick Deslauriers for whatever reason).

Every single one of the Penguins defensemen is an average or better skater for their size. If anything, they would be looking for a heavier guy that can clear a crease or whatever.

Yea I feel you, the pens definitely need that but they want size first and foremost to clear the net which is why they’re looking at Chiarot and Soucy and stuff

This is probably what Dvorak would cost. Not sure if it's worth it, but it's interesting

Yeah I think with just more offensive-minded centers he could fit in nicely. Plus add he is around the Tuch age curve to help insulate the young guys going forward at a solid cap hit

I wouldn't do this trade with Montreal, our need is a top 4 RD, maybe even two, plus goalie. If we are trading these assets, the target should probably be different. Fitzgerald is not a top 4 D, I'm not sure he'll even make it into lineup next season. Jokiharju is having a terrible season and is not a legit top 4 D either.

If this were a summer move you could probably take Mitts out and only pay a mid 1st, but at the deadline it definitely costs the Vegas 1st + Mitts.

I agree RHD and goalies are a need. I just think a defensive C is as well. Fitz is more of an experiment with Dahlin for the rest of season and Joki has played well in the past with defensive defensemen so that’s why I want him to be tried with Samuelsson

I do not find anything special in Dvorak to pay such a price for him. Mitts has had an injury ruined season and I haven't given up on him yet unless it's the right deal. Maybe we really need a decent 3C, but not at this price, especially if our problems with RD and goalie are still not resolved. Samuelsson - Jokiharju makes a lot of sense, but then we need to find partners for Power and Dahlin. A guy like Copp would probably be a great signing for UFA.

How do you feel about Schultz or Braun? Schultz is a more offensive damn and we’ve seen Dahlin play well with that even this year with Bryson. Braun would be a vet defensive guy who could take the Power mentor role

I like Braun idea to play with Power, he plays decent defensively and can play a physical game. Schultz no, he's terrible on defense and I don't want a guy playing next to Dahlin who can't play defense. Bryson plays better defensively than Schultz and is quick enough to fly all over ice. As a last resort, we can connect Dahlin with Bryson again if Adams can't find another RD. One of the things I don't like about Dahlin - Jokiharju pairing is that Joki seems to play too aggressively and doesn't have time to come back from the attack, so we often see the situation where Dahlin has to defend 2 on 1 or 1 on 1, this should not be. Probably would have preferred a more defensive partner with Dahlin, or a versatile one. who plays a calm and safe game, which cannot be said about Jokiharju.

There is no reason any team should pay a significant amount MORE than what the habs paid to originally get Dvo, especially with how his season has gone

You mean with a season that saw every single Habs player other than Suzuki miss time due to injury or covid, plus having DD as a coach! Yeah that makes total sense! His value is not going to be "down" as much as you believe. Other GM's see this season as an outlier for the Habs just look at what we got for Chiarot as proof.

Edit** And oh BTW he still has more points than Mitts this season even if you pro rate Mitts points to the same number of games played!

Yeah around here Mitts is a bit overvalued. He’s definitely got skill and upside seen last year, but this season has been really hard on him
