Why get a younger cheaper guy for free when you can pay for an older more expensive guy instead?

Who voted for Ottawa here? Did they misclick? Did they think the trade was the other way around, since the 3rd round pick belongs to Vancouver?

Vancouver, you've already paid Mr Hamonic from July 1st, 21 to March 19, 22 ..... it only costs Ottawa the portion of this year's contract and next year, all for a 3rd round pick. lol.

Way to go Mr Dorion. BTW, Mr Hamonic cost the Flames a 1st round and 2 round picks lost to NYI - this was when NYI use the 1st round pick to pick up Dobson.

The 3rd Rd pick the Sens traded was a free gift anyhow from VGK for taking Daddy-dove (an UFA signing the Sens needed to reach the Salary Cap floor) and they got Holden too in that trade.

It's nice that the Sens sent back Van their original pick.

So just to be clear, we don’t have an extra 3m to throw on the 4year 10m offer for Paul but we do have an extra 3m to throw at Hamonic when we have to pay a 3rd to acquire him. Sounds about right.

Unless he somehow has ridiculous chemistry with Chabot or Sandy next year this is a massive L.

I vote this for the worst trade of the season, because this makes absolutely no sense.

That guy was waived already once.
