Win for Calgary.

Why would the bruins possibly have any interest in this?

Because they still haven’t found a replacement for Krecji….Coyle is not that answer - he is a good 3C, or stop-gap as a 2C. Monahan has a better track record overall, and needs a change of scenery. And DeBrusk STILL wants out of BOS - for some reason - despite getting top line minutes. Seems like a win/win…

Coyle is better than monahan. By like, a lot. A lot a lot a lot. Monahan stinks. He’s a cap dump. Debrusk is an important part of the bruins top six, and is about half the price of monahan.

Also not sure if you knew this, but Haula has been playing as the bruins 2C, and that line, and the whole team have been cooking ever since they went with that lineup. Inserting a guy that stinks there and blowing up the cap, as well as the top line doesn’t seem to make much sense. Change both top six lines, both of which are playing great…just to bring an expensive project? Yikes thats a bad idea.

That all adds up to whatever is beyond a hard no.

…or not… by a lot. Look at Monahan’s career stat line, then try again. Monahan and Coyle have similar number of games, but Monahan leads by over a hundred more points. But you are right, he is terrible. Time to take off the Bruins colored glasses and look objectively. And you are right Haula has played better since taking over as a 2C, but do you really want to rely on that continuing? Since his pts/gm are less than Coyle’s over his career…which again are way fewer than Monahan’s.

Uh. So what? If this was 2018 monahan scoring 30+ goals I’m pretty sure we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

But why does boston care how he was playing in 2018 instead of how he’s playing now? Because he’s playing like crap now. Not my fault if you haven’t kept up with things. He’s been quite bad. If you don’t want to watch, that’s fine. Just run to hockey reference or something and look at the points go down, the goals go down, and then the minutes go down. Think they’re cutting his ice time for no reason? No, its because he’s been bad.

Get it?
Good.

Well if he was scoring 30 this year they probably are not trading him. You are also forgetting that DeBrusk wants nothing to do with being in BOS. So you get a former 30 goal scorer for a guy who doesn’t want to be there and you can’t afford going forward. So where is the down side exactly? Unless you have a better deal for DeBrusk in your pocket, there is no reason to turn this deal down.

Get it?
Good.

Why does it matter if he was a former 30 goal scorer? Debrusk popped 27 in 68. Why does that not matter? He also has double the goals that monahan has now. Why does 2018 performance matter for one player, and not for the other?

I just don’t get why you think, “oh, this guy scored 30+ four years ago, he’s great!” Who cares? Don’t you think there’s a reason the flames are playing him less and want to move him?

Regarding the downside, i addressed that in a previous post to you. It’s massive.

So you think you can get a better deal for DeBrusk? Because I haven’t seen/heard of one

Well, yes. Putting him on waivers would be a better move.

He’s not moving this year.

There no rush to trade Debrusk, if he goes UFA I would say yeah boston have until Monday to trade him but even if he don't sign with them they keep is contract right. He could be trade this summer on more team (Summer bring more cap space for everyone) and have a decent return.
