The thing is we can trade down that 1st and get the 2nd back + another 3rd and continue trading down and get a pick in every round but the 1st. So in a sense we can get all capital back at the draft lul.

So lets say the pick is #25 trade down get the #30 and a 2nd and then continue on.

I mean you could have done that anyway. You're still losing (2) 2nds and a 3rd.

Fun fact: Mark Giordano was booed in his debut against the Maple Leafs when he came out as one of the 3 stars.

1. Mark Giordano is playing better than Hampus Lindholm this year.
2. Colin Blackwell is playing better than Brandon Hagel this year.
3. 3rd Round Pick is playing better than Travis Dermott this year.

Prove me wrong.

3rd round pick isn't playing this year and Hagel is both better, younger, and likely cheaper long term than Blackwell.
Point 1 is true.

Fair deal, Leaf’s get a good D for fairly cheap while Seattle gets some good assets and now have 30 picks in the next 3 drafts

Hard to believe NYR, STL or CAR could offer a better return.

Francis lost that one big time on a sellers market.

We’re going to win so much that you’re going to be sick and tired. You’re going to say, ‘Please, please, Mr. Dubas, we’re sick and tired of winning. Please let us have at least one loss. It’s no longer exciting to win.’ And I’m going to say, ‘No way, we’re going to keep winning, and I don’t care if you like it or not

If your are happy about this trade please enjoy, because I don't want to burst anyones bubble, however,I would like to share my views on this trade.

I am not that excited to be honest. I don't get it!

I mean Giordano could be a great add if we needed a left shot defender. But we don't we need a right shot defender. Doing something for the sakes of doing something even if it is a good player seems a waste of futures. Fair enough, 2nd rounders aren't first rounders but there is still a good chance to find a reliable project player or am I mistaken?

How are these pairing going to work???
With this trade is Dubis telling the coach "lets stunt/ruin Sandins development", forcing him to play his weak side.

Ranking TML LHD
1) Rielly
2) Giordano
3) Brodie (Can Play R-side)
4) Muzzin
5) Sandin

Ranking RHD
1) LYUBUSHKIN
2) LILJEGREN (Still Developing)
3) Holl (Nightmare)

This is a fair deal.
Far from a loss for Seattle.

2 2nds and a 3rd is a haul for Giordano.
What did you expect?

Just because other teams massively overpaid doesn't mean everyone has to do the same.

Good deal for both sides.

Gio's game has deteriorated in the past 20 games likely the result of his age taking a toll given the immense responsibility he had with the Kraken. I see his decline continuing now with the savior pressure he will now be under in Toronto. Blackwell could be a decent player to turn this trade around but right now clear Kraken win.

Dude.
Two 2nds and a 3rd for a couple loaners. I'm not mad at all. Toronto can't sign **** with that cap and contract mess. Seattle could probably pick Blackwell back up. This is an obvious Kraken win. So much cap space. Gonna be a force on FA market.

I get where you are coming from, that was my initial reaction as well.

Brodie as a LHD plays well on the right side, he had to adjust at some point. Sandin could follow the same path, or this is just an off year where he has to play on his off side. I don't think it ruins his development, I think it actually helps. Knowing how to play on both sides of the ice should make you a better defender, and I think he's smart enough to adjust.

Whether you play on the left or right side, it's not as if you stay there all game. You don't stay on the left side for every second of the game, you need to adjust as the play goes on. I think Sandin will be fine.

Gio is a good veteran add, and TOR gets to keep their top pick and prospects. Seems like a win to me.

The problem is where you rank Holl. He's been one of our best Dmen since the Christmas break. Brodie Holl and Boosh are a perfectly fine right side. With Lilly ready to go in case of injury. Our left side is a train wreck. Especially if Muzzin doesn't get his act together when he returns.

This is a great way to tell everyone that you aren't paying attention. The leafs bottom 6 (and 3rd line in particular) have been excellent, and they literally just got another guy in this trade to bolster it even more

Good enough to compete with Tampa? Because that's all that matters right now. Leafs bottom six is still way too soft to win in the playoffs.

I thought any team might have gave Seattle a solid prospect plus that package of picks for Giordano.

I only picked Toronto at the time because Giordano has stated that he wanted to be traded to Toronto.

If you notice in the post, I priced Giordano at about the same as Chiarot.

Chiarot was a WILD overpayment.

We will have to agree to disagree on Holl. I think Lyubushkin is a perfect fit for Reilly; my question is, does he have the stamina to play big minutes? I am starting to like this trade a bit more; however, my instincts are sound, yet they are tomorrow's problem now.

If the coach spreads the ice evenly, this lineup is formidable.

(1) Lyubushkin Reilly
(2 or 3) Liljegren Giordano
(3 or 2) Brodie Muzzin
# 7 Sandin
