Copp Frontrunners

Created by: bnormie46
Team: 2021-22 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 20, 2022
Published: Mar. 20, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
It appears that Boston and the Colorado are the teams that are most interested in Copp. Not sure what the return will be yet, I’m leaning to more of a hockey trade. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Debrusk from Boston

Draft pick and a prospect is probably what the return will be
Hockey trades for a rental make 0 sense, avs and bruins are loading up, not making roster lateral moves, they want to add depth.

Jets will be selling if they move him, not looking to make a playoff run

When I say hockey trade I’m referring to a young player that would be ready to make the jump next season. Boston doesn’t have a first for this year and same for the avs, a 2023 first doesn’t seem as appealing for the team due to the fact they could wait possible 4 years after that draft to have that guy in the NHL. Jets are more in a retool mode and they are gonna want results sooner than later.

I think De Brusk for Copp would be perfect. Keeps WPG in the hunt without losing asset in Free Agency. Boston gets 2C they want.

dont think they can get too picky, Copp seems to be out the door and hitting UFA, you would rather have him walk for nothing then getting a 1st?

Tbh I feel like most people look past that part that he’s likely gone as a UFA if jets don’t trade him. They talked long term deals last year so maybe they could bring him back knowing what he wants. But honestly, I don’t think Chevy is that smart lol. I think Boston would offer DeBrusk and maybe that’s the direction wpg would take. But man if Colorado offered something like Olausson/Barron for Copp straight up I’m not sure how they say no. Great prospects.

Since COL lost out on G, do you think they’ll have any more added incentive to trading for Copp? Copp might not be a bad choice for them considering he’d probably be open to resigning for a decent price.

Can’t see them trading any of those prospects for copp. Sakic doesn’t move guys like that haphazardly. They like copp but he’s not the only guy they have interest in. Domi, lehkonen, rackell. There are options for adding a middle 6 winger. That’s all they are looking to do.

Okay good to know, I wasn’t sure if col had pivoted to Copp after G got moved. Yeah idk I guess it all comes down to what Chevy wants. We’re probably having this conversation for nothing though. Chevy will end up not trading anyone, jets will miss playoffs and Copp and statsny will walk as free agents.

they had interest in copp for a while, even before the public Giroux stuff. Even if they landed Giroux I could still see them poking around on him.
Avs wont be a desperate team over paying on a. guy tomorrow. they have their limits that they pay and their targets. IF Copp doesnt fit it, they pivot to the next guys

if you guys lose to the hawks tonight...I don't know how you can justify not selling, that is just too high of a mountain to climb

its no coincidence that Sakic moves all looked better after the organization invested in pro scouting and in one of the biggest analytic departments in pro sports.

Lehkonen deal doesn’t look very good lol. Exactly what you said Sakic wouldn’t do.
